Wednesday Wisdom

God has four gifts for you . . .

A KEY for every problem, A LIGHT for every shadow, a PLAN for every tomorrow and a JOY for every sorrow.

"God’s gifts are gentle whispers to the soul—

A key to unlock what burdens your heart,

James 1:5- If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

A light to guide through shadows that fall,

Psalm 119:105- Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.

A plan that unfolds with grace each new start,

Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

And joy that sings even when sorrows call.

John 16:22-Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.

I'm sure enjoying the pretty flowers from Mr D.

He sure is a thoughtful hubby♥

On a sadder note, little Adalyn fell out of her chair at pre-K and broke her arm.  It's a serious break and she has to see a specialist to be sure setting it will not take surgery.

WooHoo, no surgery required and she has a pretty purple cast.
I just hate this sweet little girl had to take this journey, yet I'm praising God she is going to be okay.

Mr D's brother, Marvin and our grandson Matt came for a visit Monday night.  We such a good fellowship together, family visits are a true blessing.

Something I enjoy is good ol' gospel music and/or church hymns.  Nothing takes me to the foot of the cross any faster.  Here is one of my favorite gospel hymns from Alison Kraus.

“Down to the River to Pray” is a /or American Christian folk hymn. It dates to the mid-19th century as a Negro Spiritual, “The Good Old Way”.

There are many versions of the song, and this one became popular when it appeared in the sound-track of the movie, O Brother, Where Art Thou?

(another movie I haven't seen)

In the film of O Brother, Where Art Thou the hymn is sung as people wade into a river to be baptised (dunked in the water) by a preacher.

Alison Krauss, Down To The River To Pray

[Chorus]
As I went down in the river to pray
Studyin' about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the starry crown?
Good Lord, show me the way

[Verse 5]
O, sinners, let's go down
Let's go down, come on down
O, sinners, let's go down
Down in the river to pray

Until Next Time
Meet me at the river!

Wednesday Wisdom

In a world that often encourages snap judgments and quick opinions, choosing curiosity feels like a quiet act of grace. To wonder about someone’s story rather than define it. To lean in with kindness instead of pushing away with assumptions.  To care about each other, even those we do not know.

Let us be slow to judge, and swift to seek understanding. For in curiosity, we find compassion. In compassion, we find Christ.

“Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.” John 7:24 (ESV)

It’s a reminder that true discernment begins with looking deeper—with kindness, humility, and a heart open to understanding.

🌿 The path to enduring and lasting peace is exclusively found only through faith in Jesus Christ. His love surrounds us like a soft morning light—steady, comforting, eternal. In Jesus, we discover refuge from life’s storms and strength for each step. When we welcome Him into our hearts, peace no longer feels distant—it settles deep within, blossoming in every moment we trust Him. Visits With Family & Friends Warm the Heart …and in His presence, that warmth is made complete.

"The Cross Still Stands"
No matter how the world changes, the Cross remains—a symbol of God's unchanging love, grace, and redemption. Through every storm and season, it stands as a beacon of hope and a reminder that Jesus' sacrifice still speaks life, forgiveness, and eternal victory.

Beautiful words from Fannie Crosby:

  1. Jesus, keep me near the cross,
    There a precious fountain—
Free to all, a healing stream—
    Flows from Calv’ry’s mountain.
    • In the cross, in the cross,
      Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
      Rest beyond the river.
  2. Near the cross, a trembling soul,
    Love and Mercy found me;
There the bright and morning star
    Sheds its beams around me.
  3. Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
    Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day,
    With its shadows o’er me.
  4. Near the cross I’ll watch and wait
    Hoping, trusting ever,
Till I reach the golden strand,
    Just beyond the river.
  5. Blessings to All
  6. Until Next Time

💡 Walking in Wisdom: A Gift from God
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” – James 1:5

Wisdom isn't just knowledge or experience—it’s the ability to see life through God’s eyes. It helps us navigate the winding roads, respond with grace, and live with purpose.

In today’s fast-paced world, where opinions shout louder than truth and choices are endless, godly wisdom is more precious than gold. It doesn’t come from age alone or education—it begins with reverence for the Lord.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” – Proverbs 9:10

Wisdom leads us to speak life, make peace, and sow seeds of righteousness in a world that desperately needs it. It helps us know when to speak and when to be silent, when to stand firm and when to yield. It teaches us to walk humbly, love deeply, and serve others with joy.

So, how do we grow in wisdom?

Ask God for it daily. He is generous to those who seek Him.
Read His Word. The Bible is a wellspring of wisdom, filled with guidance for every season.
Learn from the wise. Surround yourself with people who reflect God’s character.
Live it out. Wisdom is not just knowing—it’s doing. Let your life be a living testimony.

Let’s not chase after the wisdom of the world, which is often loud and proud, but rather seek the quiet, steadfast wisdom from above:
“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.” – James 3:17

Let this be our prayer today:
“Lord, teach me to number my days, that I may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12)

Blessings to you as you walk wisely and shine brightly.

Wednesday Wisdom

Life is too short to wait.

The phrase “Life is too short to wait” is a reminder of how precious and fleeting time really is. It encourages us not to waste our days hesitating, procrastinating, or putting off the things that truly matter.

🌿 1. Time Is a Gift, Not a Guarantee

We aren’t promised tomorrow. Waiting too long to pursue our dreams, mend relationships, or say what’s on our hearts can mean we miss the chance altogether.

🌼 2. Don’t Let Fear Hold You Back

Fear often keeps us waiting—waiting for the perfect moment, more courage, or the right conditions. But often, those “perfect” conditions never come. Stepping out in faith is how we grow.

☕ 3. Live With Purpose and Joy

Whether it’s a small moment—like sharing coffee with a friend—or a big leap—like changing careers or taking that trip—you’re meant to live fully, not just safely.

🙏 4. A Biblical Perspective

James 4:14 says, “What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” This reminds us to use our time wisely and live in a way that honors God now—not someday.

In short:
Don’t wait to say “I love you,” to chase your calling, or to enjoy the beauty of today. Life’s too short to stand still—so live it boldly, gratefully, and with your eyes on what really matters.

The last adventure I had was an ambulance ride to the hospital.  I think I better pass on the adventures!

I'm seeing "Decorate your own soul", how would you do that?

Maybe with precious memories, good times, enjoying life, conversations with God and lots of scriptures hanging all over me. lol

How about you?  How would you decorate your soul?

“Behold, He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen.” – Revelation 1:7 (KJV)

This verse is a powerful reminder of Christ’s promised return. He will come in glory, visible to all—no one will miss it. For believers, it brings hope and assurance that justice and redemption are near. For those who rejected Him, it will be a moment of deep sorrow. It urges us to live prepared, watchful, and faithful, knowing that Jesus is not just a figure of the past, but the King who is coming again.

We had such a good day yesterday.  We gathered at Tammy and Bo's for lunch.  The 3 sisters and their hubbies, Mr D and Moi.  The menu was simple, sandwiches, chips, some fruit and cookies, and pie.  Ice tea to drink and lot's of talking and laughing.  Our next family lunch will be in August and this time Peggy and Hank will host.  We were so busy having a good time we didn't even think to get pictures.

We were so tired when we got home a nap was in order.  Having fun is exhausting for us old folks.☺

The pictures I've shared were taken by Tammy when she and Bo went on a day trip to Anahuac.
Here are some more....

May your Wednesday be filled with peace, purpose, and the quiet assurance that God walks beside you.
In every task you face today, may His wisdom guide you, His strength uphold you, and His love surround you.
Take a moment to breathe in His goodness and step forward with a grateful heart.

"The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs... You will be like a well-watered garden." – Isaiah 58:11

Blessings to you and yours this beautiful Wednesday!

 MARK 6:31

Mark 6:31 reminds us that Jesus sees our weariness, and He lovingly invites us to step away from the chaos to rest in His presence. It’s a beautiful blend of divine compassion and practical wisdom.

"Come Apart and Rest" — A Devotional on Mark 6:31

🌿 A Gentle Invitation

In the busyness of life—whether it’s raising children, caring for others, serving at church, or simply keeping up with daily routines—we can become so busy that we don’t even realize how weary we’ve grown. Our bodies may ache, our minds grow foggy, and our spirits feel drained.

Jesus, in His tender wisdom, saw that same weariness in His disciples. They had been ministering to others, pouring out their hearts, and were surrounded by a constant stream of needs. Yet, Jesus didn’t urge them to push harder. He lovingly said, “Come... and rest.”

What a beautiful Savior we have—One who sees our fatigue and responds with compassion, not demands.

🕊 Rest is Sacred

In today’s world, rest is often misunderstood. It’s seen as laziness or unproductiveness. But in Scripture, rest is holy. God Himself rested after creation, and He commands His children to do the same—not just physically, but spiritually.

Rest is not retreating from faithfulness; it’s recharging for it. It’s stepping away to listen quietly to the Lord, to feel His presence, and to let Him restore our souls

💬 A Whisper From the Lord

Maybe today, He’s speaking to your heart, gently saying:

“Daughter, I see how much you’ve done. I know your love and your labor. But now, come apart with Me. Lay down your burdens. Let Me carry them. Let Me refresh your spirit.”

🙏 A Prayer:

Gracious Lord, thank You for understanding my limitations. Thank You for calling me not just to work, but to rest. Help me to come away with You, to find peace and restoration in Your presence. Teach me to slow down, to breathe deeply of Your grace, and to trust that the world can wait while I sit at Your feet. Amen.

God is so good to us♥

The snow is still on the ground this morning and the roads are icy, but all should be gone by the end of the day.  It was pretty to see, still, I'm glad to see it go.

I'm at loose ends today, I might just work on my diamond art and watch the snow melt.

And time goes on!

Because snow is so rare here many children have made some fun memories.

It's brrrrrr cold on the porch this morning even tho the sun is shining bright.  I had to encourage Bitsy to go out, she didn't like the blast of cold air that greeted her when I opened the door.

We are huddled in with no plans of getting out.  Mr D went for gumbo from our favorite gumbo place and brought enough for two days.  It's great on cold days like we're having, it warms you up.

I've been working on my latest diamond art pattern; I find it so enjoyable.

The mail brought a new book from guidepost that I think I'll enjoy.  I like easy reading where I don't have to concentrate too much.  These little mysteries are perfect.

Digging Up Secrets

When veterinarian Harriet Bailey's grandfather passes away, she accepts his bequest and follows her heart - with God's guidance - across the ocean to the charming town of White Church Bay in Yorkshire, England.  Old Doc Bailey left Harriet not only a sprawling historic estate but also the Cobble Hill Farm Vet Clinic in the hope that she would continue his legacy.

I finished chapter one last night, and this author has managed to introduce the characters and the estate to her readers.  She also introduced the mystery dug up by one of the dogs being boarded at the clinic.  Anxious to see what chapter two brings.

Standing On The Promises

1 Standing on the promises of Christ, my King,
Through eternal ages let his praises ring;
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain:
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God, my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I'm standing on the promises of God.

2 Standing on the promises that cannot fail.
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God. [Refrain]

3 Standing on the promises of Christ, the Lord,
Bound to him eternally by love's strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit's sword,
Standing on the promises of God. [Refrain]

4 Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
List'ning ev'ry moment to the Spirit's call,
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

Such a beautiful hymn, a reminder that we have a God who takes care of us.  It was written by Russell Kelso Carter who was a professor in the Pennsylvania Military College of Chester. While there he was licensed to preach by the Methodist Episcopal Church. He became very active in leading camp meetings and revivals. After failing health forced him to abandon this work, he studied and became a medical doctor as well as a writer. He wrote novels as well as hymns

Mr D and I are still dragging, but not too bad.  I think we're going to be just fine in due time.  Takes our old tattered bodies a little longer to heal these days. We'll just be standing on the promises of our God!

 What a beautiful morning!

I'm at the table enjoying my coffee while watching The Price is Right!  It's such a pretty morning, I think I'll go swing a while.

BOOHISS - CBS just broke into my show for a special news report.  So aggravating.

And Life Goes On

Mr D is doing much better and for the first time since Saturday his face is beginning to look normal.  His eye is better as well as the sagging on the left side of his face.  He saw our PCP yesterday and all is good and this will go away in time.

  1. What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
    Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
    Leaning on the everlasting arms.
    • Leaning, leaning,
      Safe and secure from all alarms;
      Leaning, leaning,
      Leaning on the everlasting arms.
  2. Oh, how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
    Leaning on the everlasting arms;
Oh, how bright the path grows from day to day,
    Leaning on the everlasting arms.
  3. What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
    Leaning on the everlasting arms?
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
    Leaning on the everlasting arms.
