Patience...I need Patience!

Today I got lots of practice at being patient ~ patient/patience my special word for 2015.  A chain of events that I'm now laughing about.  I had a doctor's appointment at 2:45, I was there, in fact I was 10 minutes early.  I sat in the waiting room for 40 minutes.  I would cross one leg and then a few minutes later cross the other...have you ever noticed how time drags when you're waiting?  Eventually they put me away in an examining room, yes I said 'put away,' because that's what it feels like to me.  Put away and forgotten! After 35 minutes the doctor comes in, visits with me for 10 minutes, TEN minutes, and I'm done.  Patience, I must have patience.

We're now in the car and off we go to get prescriptions filled.  The weather is awful, pouring down rain, I just want to get home.  We arrive at CVS and we're in line at the pharmacy. There's this young man in front of us. he bends over to touch his toes and his shirt rides up and his britches ride down, we get half-mooned.  Patience, I need patience...I just want to get home!

On the road again, we're starving and Luby's is on the way home.  We stopped to get a bite to eat and everything's going well...I thought....I get my food from the tray to the table and then I look for the server, I needed some pepper sauce for my spinach.  He was talking to another customer...and talking and talking and talking.  I think they knew each other, in fact I think they were friends, very good friends.  I got up and got my own pepper sauce, no tip for him.  Patience....I need patience...I just want to get home!

Six o'clock and we're home at last!  First thing I take the dogbabies out, oh dear, it's still raining and they hate to get wet. They go to the end of the porch, stop and head back to the door.  No babies, you must go poop and pee.  Back to the edge of the porch and back to the door, after lots of scolding they went on out in the yard and took care of business.  Patience....I need lots of patience!

It's such a contradiction ~ we plead for patience when what we really want is the granting of our wishes so we don't have to be patient anymore.

  1. You had a really busy day, Mary. I find that in this day and age, with instant coffee, instabanking, etc., people are so used to getting things so quickly that they have no idea what it is like to wait...and when they are forced into a situation where they have to wait their lose their patience. I know about waiting for the doctor, it is the same here in Montreal. It sounds that you had a good day in spite of everything. Wonderful post, thank you so much for sharing.

  3. I can certainly relate, I think we should send the doctors a bill for our time, theirs are important to them but ours doesn't seem to be. Once I waited 2 and 1/2 hours on my doctor and she only spent a matter of minutes with me. I now use another doctor. It does seem to be a problem and I know they are busy but I do not like spending the morning in an empty room waiting on them.

  4. Well Miss Mary I must say that I have laughed and laughed this morning reading this! I hate it that my laughter is coming at your expense but just what I needed this morning! I thought I was the only person left that says "Britches". The feller that half mooned you....well I probably would have been tempted to jerk his pants up and then act like I didn't do it! LOL! Patience........ooh....hard at times to have! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
