Does your kitchen table ever look like this? . . .
Cluttered, lots of clutter! It gets so bad sometimes we have to clear a space just to be able to eat.
It is a catch all that's for sure.
The egg carton is out so I won't forget to give it to Tammy so she can fill it up with fresh eggs.
The plastic dish belongs to Tracey (my oldest), I used it to bring home Thanksgiving leftovers. If I put it up I will forget I have it and it really needs to go home! Do you see those pecans...WoW...a friend of Tammy's picked them up from her yard, enough to fill a bankers box, she gave them to Tammy and Tammy in return bagged them up and is giving them to family and friends. Not that I'm piggy or anything like that but I did get three bags full.
And the cake, oh that cake. . . it really wasn't that good. I found a recipe on the internet for Applesauce Cake, it sounded so good and the recipe was very easy. I was disappointed that it wasn't tasty at all. BUT...it did give me an opportunity to use the Christmas gift I bought for myself, which was the whole reason to bake a cake anyway!!
Ta-Dah!!
My new mixer, I love it!! No, it's not one of those high dollar mixers, I don't bake enough to justify the cost for one of those. This is a hand held mixer that you can also put on a stand. It was so nice to be cleaning the counter for the two minutes it took to mix the cake batter.
Are you ready for Christmas?
I think I am, as ready as I'm ever going to be.
Tomorrow is our GLOW Christmas party and I'm looking forward to a great time with some wonderful ladies, next weekend will be spent with family.
I had a wonderful treat today, I talked on the phone with Sylvia from A Grandma's Blessings!
It was so good to hear her voice and visit with her. She is such a sweet lady!!
Joining with Deb, another sweet lady, @ Breathing in Grace. . . .
. . .for Friday Foto Friends
Until Next Time
Have I told you lately?
It's a wonderful time of year!!
I can relate. Our home doesn’t have an office or even an extra room so our table is a daily catch all, I am constantly clearing it off because it’s where I spend most of my time. Coffee, bible study, breakfast, planning. And tonight is girls craft night so you can imagine. You new mixer is lovely. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteA "cluttered" kitchen table is the sign of a happy, busy, love-filled home. Those items all signify special people and memories and events, so cherish them! We all know what that's all about!!You are blessed! Your pretty red mixer is lovely. I was given one of those "high dollar" mixers as a gift a couple of years ago, and to be honest with you, I don't like it a bit. I prefer my old Sunbeam on the stand that can also be a hand mixer, with a turntable. The new one doesn't turn, and you have to turn it off to swipe the sides of the mixing bowl with the spatula, then turn it back on, and so on and so on. Often times the batter at the very bottom of the bowl doesn't get mixed up in very well. I find myself going back to my old faithful mixer more often these days. So be very happy with what you bought...I am sure it is better than you know!! And you got to talk to Sylvia? Wow! I think I am going to be jealous...but I know we aren't supposed to be, so I will just say that you are blessed. She IS a very special lady...I would so love to meet both of you someday in person. Have a wonderful weekend...enjoy your GLOW gathering too! Such a blessing!!
ReplyDeleteI would love to meet you too Pamela!! Thanks for sharing about the mixer, now I know I made the best choice. And Sylvia is a sweetheart, that's for sure!!
DeleteMary, I am having the same problems with my new mixer and have even thought about returning it. It's irritating. The best thing it does is knead dough.
DeleteCute post. Oh my kitchen table. You would not believe how cluttered it gets. It is a place to dump everything and I only fully clean it off for holiday occasions. I do love the look of your mixer. I don't think I've ever seen one like it and I do love red in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteIf you are interested, here is a recipe for Apple Cake which I made (my already so many years ago) but it was delicious. https://snapthatpenny.blogspot.ca/2009/10/apple-cake.html
Thanks for the recipe link!!
DeleteI think your table looks lovely. So colorful and the cake looks very good. Our table has true clutter! We have our brunch this week and I need to think of something good to take.
ReplyDeleteOh boy how I can relate. Nope, not ready for Christmas, smiles. I hope you have a lovely weekend, friend.
ReplyDeleteI like your new red mixer. If I ever got new kitchen ( small) appliances I'd choose red ones. I have a very old very heavy mixer on a stand that works great but because it's so heavy I rarely get it down off the high shelf it lives on.
ReplyDeleteI keep my table relatively clear BUT the counter is quite another thing. There's a certain corner where I keep those things I need to remember to give back or pass on or... We all need such a place it seems.
Our table doesn't get like that but my kitchen counter does! It needs to be cleaned off right now but I need to get some baking done before I put things away. I love your mixer...real kicky!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, there are times our table looks like that. When I have to give something to someone I usually put it on the table so that I walk right by it and don't forget it :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE your new mixer! Happy baking, my friend. Hugs to you!
You mean you return containers! My girls (and I love them) takes food home and never returns the containers, so I'm always buying more plastic. I know they forget.
ReplyDeleteI love your pretty red mixer! My hubby bought me one of those 'high dollar' mixers several years when I baked and sold cakes and candy, but I don't do a lot of baking these days or cooking.
I really enjoyed talking to you Mary, and hope we can keep in touch, we can even text now too!
Hugs, Sylvia
Uma mesa bem composta para um lanche delicioso. Bom fim de semana Mary. Cumprimentos.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra, hope you have a good weekend too!
DeleteYour table looks like a lovely home, real people live, eat, and share there. Like your new mixer.
ReplyDeleteI think all our tables become catch-alls for stuff. Same with end tables, bedside tables, just about any table turns into a storage place for 'stuff'. I got sick of it and try to put things away as soon as I am done with them but like you said, sometimes you need to see things to remember to return them etc. So, my plan doesn't always work.
ReplyDeleteYour new mixer is wonderful! I have my mom's mixer from back in the day. It's a hand held. When it comes to gadgets, I love them but am too lazy to put them together and wash all the parts.
Love that pretty red mixer...just looks like Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing your beautiful glass cake dish, it is so pretty and much like one my MIL has! Sad that the cake recipe you tried didn't turn out... I've heard far too many sorry stories about pinterest fails! I really like your new mixer, it is so pretty and sounds perfect for your needs! Our kitchen counter is the "catch-all" spot, and I am clearing it off every day. I save sour cream and other plastic containers to send food home with people so they don't need to worry about returning them. Your kitchen table looks wonderfully lived in and a very special place to be :) Hugs to you today!
ReplyDeleteLoving your red mixer Miss Mary! If I didn't do a tablescape on my dining room table I am afraid it might be a catch all too. Speaking of plastic containers, every single time I run into the Dollar Tree I pick up some. My three girls carry leftovers home from my house on Sunday and I never get them back! LOL! Merry Christmas to you dear lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteOh Mary, my kitchen table always looks like this! It's like a sorting house for stuff until it goes somewhere else. Your mixer is wonderful! I've thought of getting one but still put up with my years old hand mixer.
