Friday Foto Friends

We enjoyed a day out this week, it was nice.

First stop was breakfast.  We enjoy going to a very old Skillets in Pasadena.  It needs a facelift, and the padding on the booth is just about gone, yet it's clean, the service is great and the food is good.
We go here often enough that we know some of the waitress' by name, and customers too.

They have the best grits in Texas!!  I enjoyed every bite.

Here I am waiting to be served.  Do you see the pink tint in my hair?  I was bored the other day and that's what I found to do . . . tint my hair pink!  Tammy made my mask, I love it because the way it fits doesn't seem to interfere with my breathing, but only for a short time.  Once we're in we take them off.  The state requires it and I know if I get out I have to have one on.  I don't like it but I'm  not going to let wearing a mask keep me from my favorite places.

After we ate we drove to the Yacht Club, this is the back side of the marina.  It was a beautiful day, just hot!

From there we went to Sylvan Beach, the gulls were busy looking for someone to feed them.  They were squawking and carrying on, begging for food.  I really wish people wouldn't feed them,  I don't think it's good for their health.  They eat a lot of french fries.

That's all for this Friday, hope eveyone stays well and has a very happy and blessed week-end.

Until Next Time

I haven't been taking many pictures lately, which means I have nothing new to share today.  So I went searching back in time and found this picture, it's the very first picture I shared on FFF in November 2015!

Howdy from Texas!

I don't know about your state but here in Texas it's not unusual to see our flag displayed by businesses and homes.  We were out for a ride one day when I saw this and instantly knew I had found a great blog picture!

Ava had her first guitar recital yesterday.  She's following in PawPaw Dean's footsteps, along with her cousins Matt, Travis and Jason.  There's always been a lot of music in our home.

The yardman came and mowed yesterday, I love the smell of freshly mowed (or is it mown?) grass, it's such a fresh, earthy, springy smell.  It was a great day for porch-sitting.  I even had a mockingbird stop by to say hello.  He was a pretty fellow too, it looked like he has been living well because he was a little fatty.  He looked at me and chirped and I chirped said hello back, then he was gone, as quick as he came.

Afterthought and FYI:
I looked up mowed vs mown, this is what I found...

Mowed is the past tense of the verb mow. For example, if you cut the grass yesterday, you might say, “I mowed the lawn yesterday.” Mown is often used as mow’s past-participial adjective. So one might say, “The freshly mown grass looks nice.” But mowed is also sometimes used for this purpose. Neither is right or wrong.

WoW, seems like it was Friday just a day or so ago,
here we are seven days later and time for
 Friday Foto Friends
once again!

Not only did another Friday come fast, so did February!!

My around town picture for today.

The old depot.  La  Porte Heritage Society had it moved from it's original location to Sylvan Beach.  They restored it and made the depot a museum featuring the history of La Porte.

We were so happy for this gentlemen, who happens to be my daughter's father-in-law.  He was mayor of La Porte back in the 1980's and the city declared it J.J. Meza Day in honor of his 90th birthday.  That's our current mayor reading the declaration....he was a few years behind me in school, never dreamed he would grow up and be mayor.  Just goes to show ya.....😃😃😃

Mr D has played guitar for as long as I can remember.  Here he is playing at the Pasadena Senior Citizens Association.  He enjoys playing and this is a great venue for him.  I don't know about the drummer but the front three are wonderful Christian men.
(Mr D is the one in the middle.)

That's it for today!!

I do have a prayer request.  My granddaughter, Maegan, has been diagnosed with the flu.  Maeg is the mother of Ava, Emma and Merica.  Please pray for Maegan's quick recovery and that the girls won't get sick.

Thank You

Until Next Time

Joining Deb @ Breathing In Grace . . .

Once again I have a hodgepodge of things to share, not one is associated with the other.

Last Saturday my GLOW group celebrated our 4th GLOWversary!
We had a great time, they are all dear friends.

I always enjoy sharing a little of my home town with you!
The Family Pet Boutique is where I take Bitsy and Buddy to be groomed.  When you walk through the door you are greeted by all kinds of pet 'pretties' and snacks!  I love to walk around and just look at everything.

My youngest daughter Peggy and her hubby Hank always have a project going...this time they decided to redo their fireplace.
The TV used to hang over the fireplace...I think the big clock looks much better.  Here is what Peggy said when she posted these pictures on her facebook page...

We didn't do anything to the painted white brick. We just put the new brick on top. It's called AirStone and it's super easy!!! You can only get it at Lowes.

Mr D and I were out and about the other day, it was a cold, overcast afternoon as you can see in the picture.
This sign was put up this past summer.  I guess I would say it's a back entrance to La Porte.  There is a new subdivision down the road and I guess the residents or the city thought a Welcome to La Porte sign was needed.

My last picture is of the great grands.
Once again Emma is showing her 'never a dull moment' personality, and Ava her 'I love the world' personality and Merica….well, what can you say about a sweet baby girl?

Until Next Time

FRIDAY
and time for
Friday Foto Friends

Come on over and join in the fun!

Going to share a hodgepodge of things today!

The first thing I saw when walking into Walmart yesterday.
I love it!!  I want it!!
I don't need it!!
We just bought a couple of new chairs for the patio last fall, so I was strong and walked right on by...after I took the picture.

I love Emma's big smile showing her first lost tooth and her new green framed glasses.  You can probably see in the pictures I share of these girls that Ava is quiet and reserved while Emma is the life of the party!

I didn't take this picture, I found it on the internet.  It is Main Street in my little town. What was once dress shops, shoe stores, dime stores and drug stores are now antique/junk stores and a few novelty stores. There's also one of our favorite Mexican Restaurants, El Ranchero, or as Mr D calls  it, The Ranch!

Our hometown merchants just couldn't compete with the malls.
😢😢😢

Three-Tier Centerpiece!

All dressed up for Christmas!

Santa's elves come to see us every year.

Our first nativity looks great on the middle tier.

Jolly St. Nick sits on top because he needs to see who's naughty or nice.

The red and white curtains fit right in with Christmas.

I've done very little shopping this year.  Instead we've been getting out at night, driving through different subdivisions looking at Christmas lights.  There is a little store on the corner that has the best hot chocolate, we get us cup, turn on some Christmas music and enjoy the ride.  We've been several times since the 1st!

It's been a good day, we went to our local barbecue shack and had a yummy chopped beef barbecue sandwich, some potato salad, sweet tea and a piece of pecan pie!
It was so good.

God didn't send Jesus to bring us religion!
He came to make a relationship with God possible.

And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

Christmas Oldies

Hello, welcome to

This is a fun meme hosted by

I've been Christmassing a little every day!
I'm way behind some of you but I've been
 catching up!

I've had this little guy for years...I think he is from Avon.

Our first nativity, we purchased this set at K-Mart in the late 60's!  I'm very sentimental
and love my old vintage decorations!

Mr D's sister made these little Christmas houses in 1983, one for each one of my children.  She celebrates Christmas in heaven now, these little houses are a beautiful reminder of her.

Our sweet Peggy made this Christmas plate at school.  She was 10 years old in 1979, maybe I'll give it to her someday, but not yet.  It's just not Christmas without it on display.

I think it's okay to drink coffee from a teacup,
don't you?

Teacups are prettier than coffee mugs.

Wednesday was a very bad weather day for us, but the days prior to that were gorgeous.  Sunny days with mild temps, it was so nice.

Last Sunday afternoon we were at my daughter's enjoying all our great grands decorate their pumpkins.  They visited the Pumpkin Patch after church and brought home a lot of pumpkins!

Merica thinks she's a big girl!

The six youngest...I love the way Camden and Merica are looking at each other.  I can see Camden is smiling, but Merica seems to be in deep thought.  Notice the way she's holding her hands, her Great Aunt Tracey held her hands that way when she was a little girl.

Showing off their pumpkins is our oldest great grand, Madison with her friend Tanner.

Somebody didn't finish !!

Have you voted?
Mr D and I voted early on Tuesday, such a good feeling to get that over.  Early voted started last week with a record turn out in Harris County.  Because we waited until this week the lines were shorter and we were in and out within 30 minutes.
