Social Distancing

Social distancing has become a thorn in my side!!

And yet, I do it anyway.

I know it's what is best for me at this point in my life.

{{sigh}}

The GLOW Ladies were so ready to get together, it's been too long since we last met.  We decided to take a sack lunch, a lawn chair and meet at Sylvan Beach.  We found a large oak tree that gave us plenty of shade and set up six feet apart.  What a day that was....the wind was blowing so hard, with that and wearing a mask it was almost impossible for us to hear each other.  Then there was the problem of no restrooms available.....needless to say it was a short meeting.

We did have a good time through it all and hopefully we'll do it again soon.

I snapped this picture of Arlene, I think she was disgusted about the whole thing.  She did bring home made cookies to share and they were so good.  Arlene keeps us in desserts and sweets, she is an awesome baker.

Tammy's ladies group from church also met practicing social distancing!

Thankfully the weather has been nice recently, mild days with cool mornings and evenings, perfect for meeting outside.  With all the smiles I'm seeing I think they had a good time.

Are you practicing social distancing?

If I didn't have COPD I don't think I would be quite so strict with my distancing!

Until Next Time

  1. Hello Mary! I think we live rather close, unless there is another Sylvan Beach? I'm in central NY state, west of Syracuse. I do social distance visiting, in that I go to my daughters' house and stand outside, while they stand in the doorway. It's been so chilly, not comfortable for a good proper visit. We do family zoom calls, too. And shh, we have a few of the older kids come over, not the nurses who may have been exposed...we just started visiting with our son, daughter-in-law and two little granddaughters recently, but have had one daughter, son-in-law and grandson over weekly during this whole mess, because she works full time, and still needs help here and there with babysitting, she is pregnant, ect. Anyway, I hope things open up soon, and I'm praying that God has mercy on the whole world, and that this virus disappears as fast as it appeared. I pray for our governor, even though I do not care for him, to put it lightly. I pray for the president, and for all the leaders in this world...

    1. Hello Della, thanks for visiting and leaving a comment. Our Sylvan Beach is in Texas, quite a long way from NY. Our best weapon is prayer, prayer for every person and every country.

  2. P.S. Della and I want to meet up, LOL...of course, the shutdown has made it somewhat impossible. ANYWAYS, I have had enough Mary (which shouldn't come as any surprise) and I refuse to social distance anymore. 10 weeks and counting here. IF you were to come here and want to visit, we will gladly open home/front porch if you want to wear that compliance mask, please do. I am just saying, for me personally, enough. smiles

(and none of my attitude should come as a surprise, grin-I have asthma and wearing a mask is just not feasible.)

  4. I think I am going to see if my friends want to meet up with a social distance meeting. My grands all came over on Sunday and I was happy!

  5. What a bummer, having the weather upset your first GLOW meeting. Good thing restrictions are being lifted here, on account pretty soon it will be too hot to sit outside. Like you, my hubby has COPD and won't take any unnecessary risks.

  6. We are both in the 'extremely vulnerable' area, so only see Carers for my husband. But they cant do social distancing, so its all a bit of a farce really!

  7. No one in our family has been ill so we're relaxing the distancing quite a bit. However with other people we do stay at least 4 feet apart I guess.

  8. I love that you at least all tried to meet. I think your daughter's group had the right idea in a fenced in area where the wind wasn't so bad. That looks like a great way to get together, and it is giving me some ideas. We have met friends at our local restaurant for lunch and a brunch already. We all sat at the same table. But we are all healthy. Praying things will surely begin to get back to some kind of "normal" soon. People are getting very restless.

  9. Hi Mary, It's difficult to social distance! I know it is in our best interest, though. I hope you will have a blessed weekend. Glad you had a little time with friends. Mildred

  10. So glad you had a little time with your Glow girls. Love the way Tammy's group got together. It is so hard for us, our group, to get together like that. Praise the Lord for Zoom. I think for the most part everyone, well, maybe not everyone...but I am trying to do the best I can do under the situation at hand. But I am telling you Miss Mary....I am so OVER this! I will continue to be careful and mindful but I have got to start doing a few things and one of this was....I booked our beach vacation for July so that made me real happy! We usually book in February and couldn't because of this mess. But...I felt better just "thinking" we might get to go! LOL! Maybe I just want to go somewhere is my problem. LOL! Have a good week Miss Mary. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  11. NJ Is super closed down but most are not doing social distancing with family at all. Sorry your picnic was so windy. This whole situation is hard for everyone.

  13. P. S. There is a great story going around Internet about someone born in 1900 and what that person survived in 90 years of life. It is amazing...
