Tuesday Four

Welcome to Tuesday 4 in memory and honor of our friend Toni Taddeo, and hosted by Annie!
Join in the fun by linking HERE!

This week, let's talk about the Fourth of July.

1. Do you think the 4th is an important holiday? Why, why not?

I think it's very important to remember how blessed this country has been . . . good times and bad times, we have always held our head high.  Our country has always been respected throughout the world, sadly, I don't think that is the case anymore.  The turmoil happening all around us leads me to believe patriotism is a thing of the past.  I have a hard time understanding it all.  My faith and my hope is in Jesus Christ, only He can deliver us from this mess.  My heart is hurting for The United States Of America, land that I love.

2. How do you celebrate? If you are not American, do you celebrate your nation's national holiday?

We've always celebrated the fourth. Family party and fireworks at Sylvan Beach is always fun, but this year it's all been canceled and I think you know why. {{sigh}}

3. In the time of Laura Ingals Wilder,  all Americans read the Declaration of Independence every year on the 4th and lemonade was a big treat for the town picnic.
Do you read the Declaration of Independence? Or, your nations important papers?

Sorry to say, no I don't.  I read our Declaration in bits and pieces, although I have read it all in the past.

How about lemonade? Are you a fan?

Love lemonade!

4. Picnic, eat inside the house or eat out for the 4th?

I have a large family, so you will find us everywhere.  When the food is done we serve it buffet style. Before we line up for the buffet, we gather in a circle, hold hands and give thanks to the Lord for the meal He has provided.  After that the family scatters with their plates full . . . the young people usually go outside where tables are waiting, while the rest of us eat inside.

Family time is the best time.

God bless America
Land that I love
Stand beside her and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above

From the mountains, to the prairies
To the oceans white with foam
God bless America
My home, sweet home
God bless America
My home, sweet home

Until Next Time

  1. Hi Mary, I love your page! That pothos in the pot looks so nice. I a praying for our nation too. I miss getting together with my extended family and we hold hands and pray too. I like your flag siggy too!

  2. It saddens me as well. Its been a rough first half of the year and so many dislike our country...sigh! Family get togethers sound fun, but many won't take place this year... bummer! Happy Tuesday!

  3. Hi Mary, These are sad days our Country is going through. I enjoyed reading about how you usually celebrate the 4th with your big family. Your blog background is very cheerful and patriotic, too. I love lemonade, also - it's so refreshing on these hot summer days. Take care and God bless. xo

  4. Mary: I loved all of your answers and
your beautiful tribute to our country.
    I love lemonade too.
    Have a great Tuesday.

  5. I agree with Mildred, sad days we are in...evil is upon us my friend. I really enjoyed your answers, always do. I hope you have a beautiful day, friend.

  6. I need to brush up on the Declaration as well Mary.

  7. God bless America, indeed! I love lemonade, too … but mostly, I love that flower pot in your header photo. Have just about given up finding cute pots around here.

  8. I feel so blessed to be an American!

  9. All the turmoil in our country now has left me bewildered and sad. Did you happen to hear Pastor Roger's sermon this past Sunday? It was basically telling us to teach our children about our history and how our founding fathers based so much of the birth of our nation on the word of God.

I'm going to miss the family being together and those grilled burgers!

  10. As I'm sure you know tomorrow is our big day to celebrate our country. We always get together for a big BBQ. The weather sounds threatening but we'll manage. Happy 4th to you and Mr.D

  11. I love this land, too, and hurt for all we are going through right now. We won't have much going on for the 4th. I imagine I'll invite our friends, Helen and Cheryl, over for burgers. We will see. This was a nice Tuesday 4.

  12. Mary, I agree with you 100% about our country. Praying for God's hand in healing our land. Your bbq sounds wonderful and delicious! Love PINK lemonade! xo

  13. Love the blog look here!!!!!

I put my Patriotic Blog Look up today!

The 4th of July needs to be celebrated, more than just one day. Especially this year, when some, are trying to burn down and tear our Country apart.

Our Country, like all countries, is made up of humans. Humans are not Perfect.

But you do not tear down and burn something, to make it more Perfect. And this is what is being done, in some places, now. -sigh-

  14. And by the way, I love your perm. I'd have one, if mine would come out, as soft and pretty as your does!!!!

I feel "better" with some curl around my face, but have not been able to find a way to do this, without a lot of upkeep. -sigh-

Be happy, your hair is so lovely!

    Happy 4th of July!!!
