A body of straw, a flannel shirt
And a pair of jeans covered in dirt.
I stand for hours under the sun
And fight a war without a gun.
To protect the seed and watch it grow
That's my purpose, it's all I know.
By the corn and wheat I have my place.
I don't run or walk, I won't give chase.
Upon my post in a farmers stance
I wait for them to take their chance
To swoop down below and steal some crop
See my shadow and let it drop.
I the scarecrow scare crows.
Very cute poem! I did not have a scarecrow in my garden this summer, but now I have one for the fall, lol! Hugs to you today dear friend :)

So sweet. I love scarecrows. I think it's how innocent they seem. This is my favorite season of the year!🍁🍂🌻
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute Fall poem!! I've not heard it before so thanks for sharing!! Happy Thursday!
ReplyDeleteThat was fun! Thank you for sharing that scarecrow poem! Makes me want to go put one out in my yard, even though I don't have a garden to crow about! LOL. Happy Fall!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, this was very cheering. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet!! I have to worry about deer getting into my garden more than crows. I left a shirt hanging near the garden to keep them out. Now that acorns are dropping from the oaks, there are two does in the yard each morning.
ReplyDeleteThat shows you how much I have been paying attention (NOT) ---I had forgotten yesterday was the start of Autumn, smiles.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful Friday friend.
I love the poem! Autumn is my favorite time of the year. My sister in IN (Karen @ Lily Valley blog) and I were reminiscing about the colorful maple trees at our childhood home earlier this week!
