By grace you have been saved.....Ephesians 2:8
Mornings with Jesus,
a wonderful way to start the day!
a wonderful way to start the day!
We are the reason Jesus went to the Cross. We caused the wounds on His hands and feet, the thorns on His brow, the stripes on His back. And yet, because of His great love, He reaches out to us every day to remove our guilt, lift up our heads, and save us.
Wisdom:
Be still and know that He is God!
Our GLOW meeting last week was so much fun. We are a bunch of ladies who love to eat, love to laugh, love each other and love God's Word.
Menu:
Chicken Sandwiches with all the trimmings.
Pork and Bean Salad
Broccoli and Cauliflower Salad
Veggie Tray
Chips and Dips
Ice Tea and Coffee
Baskin Robbins Pie
We celebrated Arlene's birthday!!
Her children sent her the beautiful fruit arrangement and she brought it to share with us!!!
We gave her a pretty music box, I think she liked it.
After we ate and celebrated with the birthday girl, we did our study!
Ruth ~ Chapter 3
See what happens when Ruth waits in the shadows and then makes her move in the dark of night.
In Chapter 3 we find Ruth getting to the feet of Boaz. When she got there everything in her life changed forever. Her experience in getting to his feet teaches us lessons about getting to the feet of Jesus.
When Ruth heard what was required, she said, "I will do it." This would require much courage and humility on the part of Ruth. It required her wanting to be with him so much that she made the effort to go there. It required her to humble herself to lie at his feet. It also required great courage for her to approach this wealthy and important man.
The same sort of resolve is required for a person to come to Jesus, whether it be for salvation, or for a closer walk. It requires us to make a move toward Him. It requires us to humble ourselves at His feet. It requires us to have the courage to admit tht we have a need in our lives.
After our study we got on the subject of speaking in tongues. It was a great discussion...since we are a group of different faiths, it was interesting to hear everyone's beliefs. We have done this in the past on various subjects, it's one of my favorite things to do!!

This is Sister Zee!!
I can't decide if she is a Purple Fairy or
the Purple People Eater!!
the Purple People Eater!!
She looked so pretty, I told her to strike a pose....and she did. Just so ya know, Zee loves purple!
I'm pretty sure that Ms. Zee and I would be great friends....I'm picking up my new glasses today, and yep....the frames are purple...LOL I'm finding in my old age that I can get by with stuff like that...just blame it on that old eccentric owl-loving gal!!! As for your study of Ruth....don't you just love how the OT stories (not made up stories, either) are a foreshadowing of Christ. Ruth is such a beautiful story of redemption. Now, as for that pie....mercy! And, right when I'm trying to cut back on carbs. ;-) Happy Wednesday, sweet Friend.
ReplyDeleteThere is so much wisdom in the book of Ruth. Thanks for your insight.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the book of Ruth. Our Ladies' Group is thinking of going ahead with a Bible STudy outreach...but not sure when we will start yet. Still praying about that. Love Zee's cute purple outfit. She looks like a lot of fun! And I LOVE that chocolate pie recipe. I think I used to make that back in the olden days when we ate good stuff like that...Ha Ha...I try NOT to make things like that anymore because I'll just eat it...But I can drool over it here and it won't hurt me a bit! Love coming here to visit with you. Wish you really weren't so far away...
ReplyDeleteGreat post. Thank you so much for sharing. It's wonderful to start the day with Jesus ❤

ReplyDeleteGiggling over the last photo...smiles...what a great post, Mary...have a lovely day friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun you have, and get to enjoy each other, have good food, laughs and friendship as well. We are never too old to study God's Word and learn from Him.
ReplyDeleteAlways love the story of Ruth. Looks like you gals had a great time!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful time of fellowship. Miss Zee certainly brings a smile to my face!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun time your glowing gals must have together! I love it that you all can get together like that. We have been doing the book of Ruth in our Sunday School class and I love it. I taught on Ruth once and loved it. WOW...y'all do have some good eating and your purple fairy friend is adorable! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing about your time of fellowship and study with your sisters in the Lord, such special times indeed! It is always wonderful to discuss subjects such as tongues that people may have a different opinion on too! The pie sounds absolutely delicious, what a treat! It is always nice to have something a little extravagant like that with other ladies :) What a special fun group of ladies you have, I can imagine your dear friend who loves purple is a lot of fun to be with :) Hugs to you today!
ReplyDeleteYour friend wears purple very well!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful post! The insights from the study of Ruth are great -- things I had not heard before, and I've been in Bible study virtually all of my life. That just goes to show how limitless God's Word is!
ReplyDeleteThe pie -- I can't eat that till I get to Heaven -- too many no-no's in it for me. But it looks FANTASTIC!
And I agree with Terri D in that your friend wears purple very well!
I've been missing you, my friend. I have appreciated your visits to me, but I love to come here to read and see what the Lord has for me.
ReplyDeleteWasn't Ruth such a humble and gracious woman? I do enjoy reading about your study.
It sounds as if you had a wonderful time celebrating your friend's birthday. I love music boxes!
Oh...and that pie...oh my goodness! I'll have to make that for my hubby one day soon.
xx
