I Have a Word and Thankful Thursday

God never ceases to amaze me!  He can slip a little message to you in the most unexpected way.

I have had it in my mind and heart to draw closer to Him in 2020, and the first thing I did New Year's Day morning was get my Bible and devotion and spend time with Him.   Although I was already doing that, I was determined to draw even closer this year.  I'm always hungry for more. . .

Also during this time I've been reminded by others choosing their 'word' for the year that I don't have a word. . .thinking, thinking, thinking . . . and nothing was coming.  {{sigh}}
I was watching tv last night, and had my laptop open scanning facebook, something I do too much of. . . but it's so much fun! 😊

As I was scrolling a Dayspring post appeared, it's subject, a special word for the new year.  They offered a test that you could take and it would reveal what your special word should be.  I took the test and it revealed my word to be "ABIDE."

Well of course, how do you draw closer to Him, by abiding in Him.

In a nutshell, abiding in Christ means allowing His Word to fill our minds, direct our wills, and transform our affections, it means drawing closer to Him. Our relationship to Christ is intimately connected to what we do with our Bibles! Then, of course, as Christ’s Word dwells in us and the Spirit fills us,...it's called ABIDEing!

I'm so thankful for the way God speaks to us and sends us little messages.

Thank You Lord.

Today I'm joining Rebecca Jo for Thankful Thursday

  5. Abide -- that's a good word and exactly what I hope to do more of in 2020. How else can we come to know Him, if we don't spend time with Him.

  6. Happy New Year Miss Mary. Love your word! I hope to share next week in a new post my WORD and my SCRIPTURE the Lord has revealed to me. I have each year word wrote in the back of my Bible so I can go back and look. I can share so many testimonies on each year that I have focused on a word. I hope you and Mr. D are doing well. Blessings to you both. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  7. I LOVE that word! I am so happy that God gave it to you, and we will love to see how He ministers to you and through you this year as you "abide" in Him, and He in you. I love to see how He works even in these special ways. God bless you!!

  8. I haven't been struck by a word for 2020. Perhaps it will come. I took that Dayspring quiz and also got Abide... so did several others I have seen. It is a good word, indeed but didn't speak to me. Happy new year!
