Tuesday4

Welcome to Tuesday 4 begun by Toni Taddeo and kept up in memory of her by Annie!

Here are the questions for this week:

1. Who inspires you and why?

There isn't one single person, there have been many who inspired me throughout my life.  I had good parents who believed in God, I've had some dear friends, some have come and gone, and 58 years ago I married a good man, these people and many others inspired me at one time or another.  Of course, my biggest inspiration is Jesus Christ.  What a privilege to go to Him in prayer.

2. Convince us to read one of your favorite books.

I'm not good at book reviews. I'll share two of my favorite series and just tell you they were wonderful reads.

The Mitford Series, a great series, I fell in love with Father Tim and still think of him as a real person.
The Left Behind Series, this a fiction series about the rapture of the church and the seven year tribulation. One of the authors, Tim La Haye, was a professor of prophecy at Liberty University.   Rayford Steele and Buck Williams were wonderful characters, two others that I feel are real in my memory.

3. What meal does your family just love and will you share the recipe?

I always had a meal for my family.  Because I worked outside the home our meals were simple and I didn't really use a recipe, I just cooked. We weren't picky eaters so it's hard to say what was a favorite. They did like spaghetti.  I didn't make my own sauce, I just enhanced store bought with some extra seasonings to make it taste better.

4. In Brambly Hedge they make Rose Petal Jam.
What kind do you like and why?

I don't care for jam, I like jelly.  My favorite is cinnamon apple by Knots Berry Farm.

Sadly I've only been able to find it in Christmas gift boxes.
My second choice is Smuckers Pineapple Jelly.
There's always a jar in our fridge.

Hope everyone is having a Terrific Tuesday!

  1. The Cinnamon apple is available online if you buy that way. Simple meals are the best. After a trip where I had to eat out every day, at the end I just wanted a home cooked meal! I found a little mom/pop restaurant that make chicken croquettes and mashed potatoes. I was in heaven.

  2. I too enjoyed the Mitford series. I think there may be a couple I haven't read.

  3. "sickness and sorrow come to us all; but through it we grow and learn to stand tall.
For trouble is part and parcel of life and no man can grow without struggle and strife.
And the more we endure with patience and grace the stronger we grow and the more we can face.
And the more we can face, the greater our love, and with love in our hearts we are more conscious of
The pain and the sorrow in lives everywhere, SO IT IS through trouble that we learn how to share." Helen Steiner Rice

  4. Oh, I loved the Mitford series and am still a relatively active member of the readers' group that share at the Across the hedge website... Half my fb friends are from those days!

  6. I bet Joe would like apple cinnamon jelly. Will have to look for some! I loved the Mitford series and read the firsts eight books of the left behind series. All good reads, and I too felt like Fr. Tim was a real person!!

  9. Never heard of pineapple preserves. Not sure I would like it, but you never know. Our favorite is Smuckers Blackberry Jam (seedless). Or if I am at Cracker Barrel, I love the Dickinson's Blackberry jam that comes in those little tins with the biscuits. I have read all the Mitford Series, and did have the whole set, but I've loaned it out. I loved it and yes, Father Tim seems real to me too. Since we were in the ministry I could relate to a lot of things he experienced. Favorite meal? Wow, that's hard. Lasagna is definitely one, only for special occasions like birthdays and we actually had it a couple of years for Christmas dinner. Hope you are doing well in "social distancing". Be blessed and stay well!

  10. Mitford is always a good place to run away to Mary. When my husband read those books he said he wanted to live in Mitford.:)
