wednesday hodgepodge

WoW, Wednesday again and time to join Joyce at From This Side of the Pond
for
 Wednesday HodgePodge.

1. The Hodgepodge lands on the second day of a brand new month. Tell us one thing you're looking forward to in September.

September brings high school football!

I love high school football and always enjoy the games.  Mr D and I keep up with the stats on all the teams in our district.  Mr D played football in our little town and I was in the drill team, so long ago and far away. There's a saying here in La Porte, Once a Bulldog always a Bulldog.  As the years have rolled by that's proven to be true for us.

Go Dawgs!!

2. Do you enjoy browsing second-hand shops? Last thing you bought or 'inherited' second hand?

Yes, yes, yes!!  Mr D and I love browsing in these shops and so do our grown daughters,  You might say it's a family affair. :)  I have several items, I guess the ones I love most are 2 oak chest dating back to the 30's or 40's.

3. Something you had second thoughts about after committing to, purchasing, or posting/commenting online?

There has to be something, but for the life of me I can't think of a thing.  I guess I tend to put negative things out of my mind.

4. What's a product or service you use that you'd rate as second to none?

This one is easy for me, a Kirby Vacuum Cleaner and a Maytag washer and dryer.  I have been a house wife for almost 58 years, we bought our first Kirby in 1965 and didn't replace until the mid 80's.  Same for my Maytag appliances, with 4 children I always had a load to wash and my washer and dryer worked overtime for many years.  We purchased our first Maytag when I was expecting my first child, it lasted almost 20 years.  I now have my third Maytag, I expect it to last until I'm long gone! lol

5. Something you do so often or that comes so naturally to you it's second nature ?

PRAY!
I talk to God all through the day, just like He's sitting here with me.  (btw, He is.)  I talk to Him in the car, in the store, in the doctor's office, at a friends house, it doesn't matter to me, if I have something to talk to Him about I talk to Him on the spot.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Until Next Time

  1. WOW, a housewife for 58 years, that's something to be proud of.

  2. Enjoyed reading your answers Miss Mary. Oh they sure don't make things like they used too. We are just now replacing things that are 25-27 years old. Well as you know we are Georgia Bulldogs and I am so excited about the football games. Our grandson is playing for our middle school this year too. But my mercy it gets so dang hot! LOL! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  3. Hi Mary, I love your random thought! It makes me want to watercolor! I see everyone is decorating for fall. It is hard for me to think fall when a heat wave is on its way. It will be around 107 here this weekend! Happy Wednesday!

    1. Still very hot here too. I usually don't do fall this early but decided it might make the heat more tolerable! lol

  4. Tom and I are so weary of politics becoming a part of professional athletics. Consequently, we've been following Auburn football. Even the occasional high school game. There's something so refreshing about young men playing for the sheer joy v. big $$$.

  5. Another fun Hodgepodge and I enjoyed your answers, Mary! I trust your comments on Kirby and Maytag with your 58 years of experience! I felt the same way about my Kenmore washer and dryer which were 28 years old when we left them behind in the old house. Can't get them anymore but we have GE here in our now home (not new anymore) and I like them just fine. Have a good rest of the week!!

  8. I pray like that too. I often imagine Him sitting there across from me and we have a conversation. :)
