My heart was sad, now it's not.
This past week our daughter's family was hit with covid. I'm so sorry they are sick and I'm so sorry our family Christmas Party had to be canceled.
Covid is ugly, bah humbug.
Christmas is still beautiful and Mr D and I spent it quietly at home, together.
My daughter Peggy posted this Christmas Eve and I want to share it with you.
Kaylea, Hank and myself all tested positive for Covid on Wednesday,
we are all quarantined at my house.
we are all quarantined at my house.
A beautiful friend who also has tested positive along with several of her family members, said it best in her post earlier today:
Well this certainly isn’t the Christmas I had planned….
BUT…………….JESUS!
*Mary certainly didn’t envision the first Christmas the way it transpired either. She would have preferred the presence of her mother, perhaps a midwife, and a much cozier place to put that new baby!
*I’m sure Joseph questioned his sanity taking his pregnant fiancé to Bethlehem where the only place to stay was in the barn.
BUT………………JESUS!
None of what we think would make Christmas perfect mattered to Him! And, yet, that first Christmas was PERFECTLY PERFECT!
And you know what? This one will be, too!
MERRY CHRISTMAS. Let’s keep the main thing the main thing,
and celebrate the WHO more than the WHAT!
Hi Mary, Yes Jesus is number 1 in all things! Praying they all heal quickly!!!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhh Mary....you're going to make me cry again. My husband said something similar on Christmas. Our hearts are hurting, but we know that our son is in Heaven. I pray that your daughter and family get to feeling better, my friend.
ReplyDeleteOh Mary, your daughter posted an amazing thing. I wish more people could read it and realize that because of Jesus we have everything even if we physically have nothing.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you had a good Christmas anyway and you can celebrate again once everyone is out of quarantine.
Blessings,
Betsy
Prayers…if vaccinated should do okay…
ReplyDeleteSo true, Mary.
ReplyDeleteWell, this brought tears to my eyes. I will surely pray for your precious family. What a beautiful post she made. YES...it is surely all about the WHO! Happy New Year to you and Mr. D. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThis post captures the essence of how we Christians can focus our days and our thoughts. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAmen, Mary. Well said!!
ReplyDeleteA much needed post for me to read.
ReplyDeleteAmen,
d
Oh, Mary, I didn't know this until now. I am so sorry to hear that your family was sick with Covid. Praying for their complete healing, and praying no one else gets it. But so thankful for her sweet spirit and attitude as she contemplated that very first Christmas...yes, But "Jesus"...the REASON we celebrate...The reason we live. The reason we have hope, and joy! Praying you all will be able to celebrate together soon, but until then, rejoice in Christ your Savior. He is truly all we need. Amen. (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteBecause . . . Jesus! That should recenter us all year long and keep the main thing the main thing. We had our big celebration on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day opted out of traveling to be with a larger group. It meant we got to linger longer at church and reconnect with some folks we had not seen since before the pandemic. Keeping the main thing the main thing always has side benefits it seems.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect illustration! I'm so sorry your daugher and family were sidelined, but I love how they chose to focus their thoughts. Prayers for their complete healing!
