Tuesday 4

 Cowboys

painting by Mark Maggori
It's time once again for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4, now hosted by Annie! Let's talk about cowboys this week.

1.  Do you like western style chuck wagon cooking?  Stews, chilis, beef steaks, BBQ  etc.?

I love it!!  The trail rides are coming into Houston for the Fatstock Show and Rodeo.  They have the best cookouts every evening.  You'll find the best BBQ and chili ever!!!

2.  Do you make a good chili or do you know someone whose chili is the best ever? Beans, meat or both?

I used to make a pretty good pot of chili, back when I was cooking.  No beans in my chili, that's the way we like it.

3.  Who is your favorite cowboy movie star?

Too many to count.  Of course as a little girl I was in love with Roy Rogers!!  The first time I saw a television Hopalong Cassidy was on, he never was a favorite though.  James Arness who played Marshal Matthew Dillon on Gunsmoke was a great western actor. Jimmy Stewart and John Wayne westerns are my favorites.  In my youth westerns were very popular, movies and TV shows, we watched them all.

4.  Do you have a favorite western TV show or movie?

I mentioned them in question 3.  My all time favorite western is Gunsmoke, Mr D and I still watch it every night.  I'll hate the day they quit showing it.

You can link up HERE if you want to play along.

Thank you Annie for hosting. 💗

Until Next Time

  1. Jimmy Stewart was a great actor! I am going to Georgetown Texas in May. We will have to find a good BBQ place there. We did get some good brisket at Bucees.

  2. I am making a big pot of chili for tonight's family dinner :) Always with beans. Can't imagine it without. And John Wayne would have to be my favorite cowboy actor. I watched Gunsmoke a lot as a kid because we only had 3 channels :)

  4. Loved all of the shows you mentioned. The Rifleman is a favorite too, because he looks a lot like my father-in-law. :-) Big Valley, Bonanza and more.
We really lke chili here at our house. I've won a few cook-offs with it. Not very spicy but it does have beans!
We like all foods that are western style. Have had lots of bison and really like it.
A fun post today and a trip down memory lane of shows of my childhood and as a young adult.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  6. Trying again! I forgot to add, Tom's favorite is the GRIT network; he sometimes watches the old westerns into the early morning hours.

  8. When I was a kid I liked Clint Walker in Cheyenne!!! My father had a friend who looked just like him. So much so that one day he was over the house and my friend came over because she thought Cheyenne had come to visit us!!!
