Hello, and welcome to Tuesday 4. Before we get started, I want to respond to a comment from Myra at Respice, Prospice in regard to a 'plate lunch,' which I mentioned in yesterday's post. What is a plate lunch? As a child my family did a lot of traveling, and I remember my parents saying they wanted to stop and eat, somewhere where they could get a plate lunch. To us it meant a meal of meat and vegetables. No specialties, such as seafood, Mexican food or hamburgers. FYI, there wasn't any fast food in those days.
Time Flies
Perhaps we might talk about time.
1. Early to bed, early to rise? Do you have usual times to go to bed and get up in the morning? How do they work out for you?
During our working years it was early to bed and early to rise. That was even true after retirement for a few years. Gradually we have become just the opposite, late to bed and late to rise!
2. Ecclesiastes says, "To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven."
How much time is devoted to work, housework, hobbies? What about religious pursuits like study, prayer, services? In other words, how is your time apportioned?
I don't really have a good answer for this question, I do what I can, when I can. With that said, I manage to get it all taken care of, sooner or later! :)
3. Do you think you manage your time well or would you like to improve? How would you improve?
Once again, when I was a working woman, aka wife, mother, housekeeper, I had to manage my time well to get it all done. Since retirement I've become a 'do it when you feel like it' type of lady. I certainly could improve but it's not a big deal anymore.
4. Do you think time travel is possible? Why or why not?
No, I don't believe in time travel. God took John on a futuristic trip, I think that's reserved for special people and special messages from God alone.

I enjoyed reading your answers. I hope you have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the 'splanation, Mary! Down here (in Alabama) folks refer to that as a 'meat and 2' or 'meat and three.' I used to be a creature of habit -- in bed no later than 9 and up at 4:30 to be ready for work. All that's gone by the way since I retired, but I still love my mid-afternoon nap.
ReplyDeleteYes.. plate lunch like a blue plate special or a businessman's plate lunch! My Grandmother used those terms all the time. I cam home from school for lunch and she called them plate lunches. I always got a full meal for lunch time. It was a meat, a veggie and a potato. Thanks for joining in Mary!
ReplyDeleteI remember hearing "plate lunch". It must be from our childhood when things were simpler and we didn't have so many fast food options (none, actually, except for A&W Root Beer places and maybe a Dairy Queen, which was only ice cream back then) I remember that drug stores and places like Woolworth's had a lunch counter where you could get a "Plate lunch" or a sandwich, but mostly I remember them for the Hot Fudge Sundaes and Chocolate Ice Cream Sodas. My mother loved to stop at those places when we were out for a day of shopping. I enjoyed your answers. Thanks for joining in.
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of a plate lunch, I think of the old diners that would serve up a special for the day, like meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans and cornbread, all accompanied by some sweet tea. That's how we do lunch in the South :)
ReplyDeleteGreat answers! I think Woolworth's had Plate Lunches when I was a kid. that dictionary sounds like it caters to Chinese food which is good but not a plate food or Lunch Plate for sure. Love that alarm clock hahaha My husband still works but often he lets me sleep. Sometimes I am up with the chickens, other times I sleep in. Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteGood answers!! A plate lunch means (to me) not fast food. A "real" meal on a real plate. Meat, veg, and a starch. I'm with you there!! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI think a plate lunch was on the Woolworth menu. Now I have had a Hawaiian plate lunch before and way too any carbs for me but bring on the kalua port and teriyaki chicken! Retirement does change how we do things. I think we have learned that life goes on if we don't get the chores done. Have a great week!
