Today's Poem:
Did God Speak To You?
The man whispered "God, speak to me"
And a meadowlark sang.
But the man did not hear.
So the man yelled "God speak to me!"
And the thunder rolled across the sky.
But the man did not listen.
The man looked around and said "God let me see you"
And a star shone brightly.
But the man did not notice.
And the man shouted "God show me a miracle"
And a life was born.
But the man did not know.
So, the man cried out in despair.
"Touch me God and let me know that you are here!"
Whereupon God reached down and touched the man.
But the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on.
Moral:
Don't miss out on a blessing because it isn't packaged the way you expect.
Around Town:
A year or so ago a new restaurant opened in our little town. It was a big hit because they serve what I call 'plate lunches.' It was just what we needed because we mostly have fast food or Mexican food, a Barbecue place and a couple of seafood restaurants. Unfortunately, they weren't open long before it caught fire and burned. Good news, after many months of rebuilding they are now open again. Mr D and I went Saturday and enjoyed a good meal. I had the fried mushroom appetizer, and they were delicious.
On The Porch:
I thought I had lost this plant, it was so big and pretty last year, maybe 4ft tall. There was also one on the front porch the same size. That one didn't make it through the winter, now the porch looks naked. {{sigh}} But this one on the back porch is sprouting new growth and that makes me happy.
Closing Thought
Glad you enjoyed the meal. Sad that they had to rebuild!

That parable is so good! I'm intrigued at the idea of 'plate lunches' and may have to Google their menu. For some oddball reason, I love to read those. Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteLove today's poem. So very true!!! God is all around us if we only look.
ReplyDeleteTodays poem is very appropriate for life today. Sometimes we get so busy we forget to just watch and listen for Him.
ReplyDeleteYour new restaurant sounds delicious. I'm glad they re-opened. I've been in many places where plate meals were the norm and I really enjoy them.
I pray that you'll have a lovely Monday.
Blessings,
Betsy
Oh, that poem is perfect for my word "LISTEN". Yes, we need to pay attention to all the special little ways God is trying to get our attention. So sad when we miss them because we just didn't pay attention. The lunch sounds wonderful. Glad the place was able to rebuild. I enjoyed your Monday coffee chat! Thank you for doing this, even if I don't drink coffee. LOL.
ReplyDeleteMy boys ( men) think that if they want a plate lunch Mom's is the place to go. She knows just what they like to eat. We do have a restaurant locally that does those sort of home -style meals and I've heard they're pretty good too. GM
