 We are in a heat wave. Whew, it's hot outside.

We are striving to keep our few pot plants alive.  Constant watering is needed these days, except for this potato ivy.  Tammy gave me a tater from hers, we stuck it, litterally, in the flower bed just several weeks ago.  It is thriving, in fact it's trying to take over everthing!!

We have pruned it some.  We just decided to let the crazy thing go wild and see what happens.  I kinda like it anyway.

Just as long as it doesn't take over my swing. 😂  No, I haven't been setting out a lot lately because of the heat, but when I do I want my swing readily available with no vine attached.

I can think of the strangest things, I don't know where they come from.  The other morning I found myself saying this nursery rhyme for no reason at all.

Hey diddle diddle,

The cat and the fiddle,

The cow jumped over the moon;

The little dog laughed

To see such fun,

And the dish ran away with the spoon.

Do you think I might be entering my second childhood?

Well, maybe, because I then found myself writing a new version.

Hey faddle faddle,

the dog and his paddle

He used to row his canoe

The cat was depressed

to see such a sight

So he flipped the canoe out of spite.

I must have been in one of my off moods that day, because when I rethought, I came up with a nicer version.

Hey faddle faddle,

the dog and his paddle

He used to row his canoe

The cat did laugh to see such a sight

So he jumped on board with delight.

Lord, may I be wakeful at sunrise to begin a new day for You;

cheerful at sunset for having done my work for You;

thankful at moonrise and under starshine for the beauty of the universe.

And may I add what litte may be in me to Your great world.

Amen

Tammy leaves for Africa in just one week and three days.  I'm so happy for her, it's going to be such an adventure.  AND serving the Lord at the same time♥   With that said, just thinking of her being half way around the world makes my heart go a little crazy.  Please say a prayer for her safe travels.

Hope everyone is enjoying a skippity do da day!

Blessings

Until Next Time

  1. I LOVE your playful rhymes, and yes, it's okay to be in our 2nd childhood at this stage in life! I told my hubby I thought I might be in my 3rd childhood already! LOL. Some days you just gotta act like a child again and be free from the worries of this world. Simply trusting in Jesus is what we need to do. I will be praying for your sweet Tammy as she goes on this mission trip to Africa! What an adventure that will be! God will take care of her, so you don't need to worry. But I do understand what you mean. Our kids have been away in Minnesota for a few weeks and I am really missing them and praying for their soon return. We get dependent on our kids being close enough to call when we need them, or even just to say hi, I love you!! Tammy (and you) will be in my prayers. I love the potato vine. Is that a sweet potato vine? I didn't know regular potatoes made vines. Maybe you will grow some potatoes! That would be fun! Yes, it's too hot here to sit outside as well. Too humid, and we've been getting a lot of rain, which we need, but the bugs come out and they don't play nice! I am already looking forward to FALL! LOL. Take care my dear friend, and keep writing those sweet little rhymes. I loved them!!!

  2. I agree, your heat wave is crazy. When I watch Al Roker showing the nations temps I'm shaking my head.
    You've made some cute rhymes... and I'll bet having fun in the process. I've never heard of a potato ivy, but yours is beautiful.
    Prayers lifting for Tammy's travel mercies.

  6. I'll keep you in my prayers. It's certainly not easy. Our youngest started spending his summers in Japan the year he turned 13. He taught english in the schools there. Then, he got his Masters Degree at 19 and moved there permanently. Now he's married and living in London and they have a baby that owns my heart I love to visit them.
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy
