Tuesday 4

 Music and Sound

background music in the night
Time once again for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.. Thank you Annie for hosting.  If anyone would like to join in just click HERE!

1.   Do you like music in the background or is quiet more suitable for you?
I've always had background music to live by because Mr D is a musician.  He's often in his Man Cave playing his guitar, practicing for another gig.  I've always enjoyed hearing him play.

2. What kind of sounds or music annoy or bother you?

I like softer music if I'm going to be listening to it all day, I don't like opera, heavy metal, rap and such as that.  I love gospel music and I love the old band music such as Glen Miller, Arte Shaw, and others like them. I also like the older country music, the new country sound is not really country. I like the older church hymns over the new music in the churchs now.  I know, I'm an old fuddy duddy, but that's what I like.  There are many of the traditional Christian songs that I like, just not in church.

3. What kind of sounds do you find enjoyable, peaceful or uplifting?? What sounds are most annoying?

A lawnmower and a vacuum cleaner annoys me sooooo much.  Both really get on my nerves if I'm around them long enough.  Peaceful sounds, the sounds of outside ~ leaves rusting, birds singing, squirrels playing, the wind blowing, all so comforting.

4.   Do you play an instrument or would you like to learn to sing or to play an instrument.?

I can play 'at' the piano, if the music is simple.  I would love to be able to sing, but alas, I can't do that either.

Except when I'm alone in the car. bahaha

Blessing to All

Until Next Time

  1. I'm much like you when it comes to taste in music. I like the olders hymns best and no rap or heavy metal, thank you. I do love the sound of lawm mowers though.
    Blessings and hugs,

  2. I, too, prefer the old (real) Country music. Familiar old hymns, as well. Half the stuff our music director chooses are unfamiliar, making it difficult for the congregation to sing along. So awkward, it's sometimes funny.

  5. Mary, this is so cute :) It sounds like we have the same taste in music and have musical families. I agree, modern country "ain't" country! It's rubbish. I love gospel, hymns, Gaithers :) I do love some modern worship songs, as my son has written some and sang most of them. I will never get tired of singing hymns though. Those are the songs I rocked my babies to in the middle of the night. "Precious memories, how they linger."

  6. I think a lot of music people prefer is the music they heard as a child.
