Monday Coffee Talk

Mondays, it's such a reliable day - always showing up on time!

Hello tea drinkers - I hope your tea tastes good too!

“Each Monday is a brand-new page. What we write on it is up to us—choose gratitude, sprinkle in kindness, and let faith guide your steps.”
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” — Proverbs 16:3

The other day my little brother Wayne called and asked if I’d ever seen the movie Hacksaw Ridge. I told him no, and immediately he said, “You really need to watch it!” He shared just a glimpse of the story, and I was intrigued. I had heard the title before, but didn’t know anything about it. Curiosity got the best of me, so I did a little research—and before long, I found myself ordering the DVD. I really like movies based on true stories and I’m anxious to watch it one day this week.

“Hacksaw Ridge” tells the remarkable true story of Desmond Doss, a WWII Army medic whose unshakable faith and courage led him to serve without carrying a weapon. On the battlefield of Okinawa, he saved 75 men, proving that one man’s conviction and compassion can shine even in the darkest of times.

Many say Japanese soldiers fired directly at Doss and missed him every time. Doss believed his protection came from God, not from luck or chance. His story is a reminder that when we walk in faith, the Lord can shield us even in the fiercest battles, just as Psalm 91:11 promises: “For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.”

Just as God’s hand was on Doss, His presence is with us in our everyday struggles too. We may never face a battlefield, but we all face challenges, and the same faithful God can give us courage, strength, and protection when we trust in Him.

School started in our little town last week, I think the grands were ready to go back.  Summer vacations are great but it’s nice to get back in school and reconnect with friends.

Our little Adalyn started pre-k and Merica is in 2nd grade.

She said a prayer that her first day would be great!

♥Merica♥ all posed for her picture before leaving for school.

Time to go back in time!

Let’s take a little trip all the way to 1872. Do you remember Montgomery Ward? I sure do. I did quite a bit of shopping there over the years, though the nearest store closed some time ago. Still, the memories linger.

It was on this very day in 1872 that Aaron Montgomery Ward issued his first mail-order catalog. Just one sheet, listing 163 items—imagine that! What a marvel it must have been back then. I can’t help but wonder what Mr. Ward would think of Amazon today, with its endless virtual aisles and lightning-fast deliveries.

Funny enough, I still receive a catalog from Montgomery Ward now and then. I rarely place an order, but there’s something comforting about flipping through those pages. A little piece of the past tucked into the mailbox.

As you sip your coffee/tea and step into the week, remember—God’s mercies are new every morning. Let today be a fresh start, a gentle reminder that even small steps taken in faith lead to beautiful destinations. You are never alone on the journey. He is always near

Blessings to All

Until Next Time
