Nearer is
where I want to be.
"Draw near to God." Every story the
Bible contains has an overarching theme running through it: the heartbeat of
God to have a relationship with His children.
Drawing near to God gives peace to our souls;
peace from the burden of our sins and peace in the midst of the burdens that
come to us through others’ sin as well. The nearness of God is our answer - let
us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith
brings.
Regardless of what exactly God’s image inside
us is, it calls us back to Him. And His call is always for us to draw into His
presence because it is what we were made for. The nearness of God is our
answer. His nearness is our need.

Several days of nice weather gave us the perfect excuse to get out and ride around a bit, just taking in the sights and keeping up with what’s happening in our little corner of the world.
A view of Main Street ~ when the
malls came along, the little shops on Main started closing one by one. Now they are mostly thrift or antique stores,
with a few good places to eat scattered around.
On the
way home we swung by King’s Barbecue and picked up a half‑pound of brisket.
With leftover baby lima beans and a bit of slaw waiting in the fridge, it
all came together into a simple but delicious lunch.
Later in
the day Tammy stopped by for a visit and brought some of her chicken spaghetti.
That’s tucked away in the fridge and will make a fine lunch for tomorrow. We
ended up talking through a few things from our chronological Bible reading
plan. We don’t always see everything the same way, but we sure do enjoy hearing
each other’s thoughts.

Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord, to Thy precious bleeding side.

There is no peace like the peace of the presence of Jesus.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder Mary. I have been thinking the same thoughts...:Lord, draw me nearer to Your heart.
