Thankful Thursday

It’s a cool winter day with the sun shining bright, just the way I like it!  I caught some movement from the corner of my eye and when I turned I saw a pretty butterfly fluttering around the rose bushes.  Delightful.

The Butterfly

I was sitting on the porch today,

When a butterfly flew up to play.

I watched him flutter his wings up and down,

As he looked at me not making a sound.

I smiled at him and he smiled back,

Then he flew away . . . .

                      Goodbye Butterfly.

A poem I wrote on a similar day of few years back.

I found a little lizard sunning himself on the back porch and a few birds wishing there was seed in their feeders.  I need to put that on Mr D’s ‘to-do’ list.

He had some high numbers on his last blood test and today he’s off to the doctor to get some things checked out.  I know he would appreciate your prayers.

As for me, I’ll sit here by the big window and work on my diamond art until he’s back home.

Ob-la-di, ob-la-da
Life goes on, brah
La-la, how the life goes on
Ob-la-di, ob-la-da
Life goes on, brah
La-la, how the life goes on

Even with the worries that come with doctor visits and the unknowns we all face, my heart is resting in gratitude today. The sunshine, the butterfly dancing through the roses, the tiny lizard soaking up warmth, even the birds reminding me to refill their feeders—all of it feels like God’s quiet way of saying He’s near. So I’m choosing thankfulness right here by the big windows, trusting that the same God who watches over the smallest creatures is watching over us too. Life goes on, and grace goes with it.

Ephesians 5:20: "Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Until Next Time

😊

  1. Amen! How wonderful to see a butterfly and lizard in the heart of winter! I know where you are is much like where we are...we don't feel winter's blast as much as those further to our north, although I thought I saw Texas is in the crosshairs of this big storm that is coming. Maybe you are close enough to the gulf to be spared the bad stuff, I pray! Praying also for Mr. D's appointment and for some good answers as to how to take care of those higher numbers on his lab work. I know how concerning that can be, but yes, we commit each thing to the Lord and He takes care of the rest...and gives us wisdom of what we may need to change if anything to make things right. Meanwhile, relax and enjoy the view from your big window. God is in control in all things. Amen.

    1. We are going to get hit with an artic blast this weekend, but in Texas we can have summer, fall, winter and spring in the same week. Thank you for your prayers for Mr D, we are so blessed that all is okay. Even through all our concerns, we know God holds us close.

  2. Thank you for choosing thankfulness - certainly cheered me up - I chose thankfulness too. I pray almost daily for you, Mr D and your family but added a few extra when I heard of the Dr's appointment. Glad all is okay.
We're getting the arctic blast too but then we're in Nova Scotia - we expect them.

  3. I've not watched a butterfly in ages ... but those lil lizards crack me up.
I'm praying all goes well at Mr. D's appointment; that there's a perfectly acceptable reason for those numbers.
You know, now I'm singing that cheery little song. Remember the TV series by the same name? I was so sad when it went off the air.

  4. Dear Mary, I love the lizard 🦎 and butterfly πŸ¦‹ I love the song 🎡 ♥️ as well.
Today here in Montreal it was sunny, then we got blowing snow, and the sun was peeking out. Once the snow stopped I decided to take a couple of photos of the sunny moment, which I will share on a future blog post.

  5. Glad to read in the comment above that Mr. D is okay. I've been praying for him this morning. It's very cold here and will be below zero for most of the next week. It's cozy and warm inside though and I love hunkering in my recliner with my yarn fun and spending time with my Hubby.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  6. I hope your Mr. D is okay. I saw a white butterfly the week before last. I thought they were hiding for the winter. Must have been the week it was 80. Enjoy your weekend!
