Welcome
to the first Monday of 2026!
How about
resolutions? Do you make them, and if
you do, do you keep them?
I stopped
making New Year’s resolutions some time ago. No matter how determined I was, I
never seemed to keep them. I’d do just fine for a while and then… well, that’s
a whole different story! Instead, I usually select a special word for the year,
something to guide my heart and focus my thoughts. I’ve been giving this a lot
of consideration, and once again I’m doing something a little different. This
year, I’m choosing a hymn. There’s simply no better way for me to stay centered
and on track than through a song.
Draw Me
Nearer.
I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith,
And be closer drawn to Thee.
Draw me nearer,

To the cross where Thou hast died;

Nearer is where
I want to be.

It’s been
rather quiet around here since Christmas. Mr. D has been settled in with the
football playoffs, and I’ve been puttering around the house, enjoying a few
small projects of my own.
We’re
trying not to get out much these days. The flu is everywhere, and even though
we’ve had our shots, it wouldn’t be wise for me to risk getting sick.
I started
a new latch‑hook project, made it through several rows, and then set it aside.
I wasn’t enjoying it the way I thought I would—maybe I’ll pick it back up
later. So instead, I pulled out a new diamond art kit. It’s been several months
since I last worked on one, and it felt good to get back into it. I even
ordered a few new CDs from ChristianBooks to listen to while I work.
I
realized I hadn’t been out on the back porch since well before Christmas, so I
decided to enjoy my swing for a little while. The weather has been perfect for
porch sitting—hard to believe it’s winter. {{sigh}} The plants, however, are
definitely showing signs of neglect.
