We went to Lowe's so Mr D could buy a new drill. I really wasn't interested in going with him to the tool section of the store so I headed to the patio/garden area. I really wasn't looking for anything, but I sure found something..
There was one shelf with just a few of these plants, they looked so healthy and 'different.' Not your ordinary plant, not down here anyway.
They were already planted in cute little white pots, before I knew what was happening I had three of them in my cart. . .
. . . one for each of my two older girls and one for me!
Baby daughter isn't into plants, her interest are elsewhere. I'll see something she might like another day.
I don't know what these plants are, there wasn't an identifying tag on them. I have seen them in arrangements but I don't think I've ever known anyone that has grown them in my area.
I'm anxious to see if I'll be successful getting it to grow.
Isaiah 40:31
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
To wait upon God is to be silent that He may speak,
expecting all things from Him, and girded for instant, unquestioning obedience
to the slightest movement of His will. That is waiting upon God.

I think your plant is an Anthurium, it sometimes has white flowers too.
ReplyDeleteThank you!! Now I can research and find the proper care.
DeleteI got so excited when I saw your pictures of the flowers, Mary! I have one that got to the point I needed to divide it. Elizabeth is correct about its name. We often hear them referred to as a Peace Lily. My husband gave me my red one years ago and I now also have one with the white bloom that came out of a basket that was sent when my mother passed away last fall.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dianna. Peace Lily, I like that.
DeleteWhat a great deal you got Mary...wish I had your green thumb.
ReplyDeleteI'll let you know how green my thumb really is...if I'm successful with this one!
DeleteHa, funny, I have the same issue when I walk in there, lolol. Hubby heads to tools, I head to the plants. Have a beautiful day, friend. Smiles
ReplyDeleteJust a PS...when we went to the hospital for an appointment today, we saw one of the windowsill full of Anthuriums!
ReplyDeletePeace Lily... and what a great name! They grow outside down here, for people who can actually grow plants and keep them alive! (Not me!) Hope Mr. D. found his drill!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty ... we're definitely Kindred Spirits, my Friend... we were at Lowe's last Friday and bought our girl 4 ferns for her front porch... on clearance 75% off! 💜
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing!! We do seem to travel in a parallel path. WoW, 75% off is great.
DeleteDon't you love it when potted plants just jump into your cart as you pass by them?
ReplyDeleteI have never grown an Anthurium but often admired them. I wondered if they only came in red so I looked them up and apparently that red thing isn't the flower. It's a " modified leaf flaring out from the base of a fleshy spike where the tiny flowers grow".
Isn't that amazing?
That is amazing. My daughter did some research and told me they are poisonous to animals. That's concerning because I have 2 little dogbabies, I'll just have to be very careful.
DeleteBeautiful flowers...I know you will enjoy them...but yes, keep them away from the pups! Have a blessed and beautiful day. Love to see pretty flowers!!!
ReplyDeleteYour plant name is Anthurium. It has different colors. It looks beautiful. I have seen white, red, pink, purple colors of this plant:)
