Wednesday's HodgePodge

Time to join Joyce for
Hodgepodge Wednesday!

You can join here.

1. The Hodgepodge lands on National Dog Day this year (August 26th). Do you own a dog? Did you have a dog when you were growing up, or maybe some other kind of pet? Would you say you're more of a dog person or a cat person? Neither is okay too : )

I am a dog lover!  When I was 3-4 I loved my Aunt Mary's Cocker, Michael.  At 7 we had a black Cocker named Skippy.  Later came a blond Cocker named Sandy.  Along the way there was a white poodle we named Benji.  The most wonderful dog of all was our Cocker, Willie Dog.  He was so special and crossed Rainbow Bridge much too young.  That was in 2009 and I still miss him.  In 2011 Bitsy Baby came to live with us and in 2012 Buddy Boy joined us.  I love cats too, when a little girl I had Kitty Tom, oh I loved that cat.  Years later we had Mimi, a long haired siamese and she was beautiful.

2. Last time you felt 'dog tired'?

Today!!  COPD causes tiredness, I feel it everyday.

3. It's said you can't teach an old dog new tricks. When did you last prove this idiom true or prove it wrong?

This old dog has certainly learned many new tricks in recent years.
I've learned to be more accepting of things I cannot change.

4. A favorite book, television show, or movie featuring a dog. Why did you love it?

Our local weatherman, Frank Billingsley used to have his partner, Freeway, help him with the forecast each evening. Freeway was so cute, I loved him.

5. Last time you had reason to (literally or figuratively) exclaim 'hot diggity dog'?

I say that a lot.  The last time being just yesterday when I receive a new Bible study from David Jeremiah.  Mr D and I will be starting it soon.  Right now we are staying alert and making plans around what will be Hurricane Laura. :(

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Today I choose to have a good day, hope you will too!!

Until Next Time

  8. My but you had quite a number of dogs through the years.
"Freeway" looks more like a stuffed dog than a real one. LOL.

  9. Sorry about your COPD. I can only imagine how tough that can be. You really have had lots of dear pets! Laura looks like a nasty hurricane. Hope it calms down before it hits land! Stay safe.

  10. I like that weatherman's dog too! I wish I could have an animal friend again but I can't afford to properly take care of them, so I won't.
I pray for your healing Mary and now for your safety as well.

    1. Thank you Annie. We'll not have anymore pets after the two we have now. I'm just not able to take care of them like I should. Thanks for your prayers.

  12. I love your enthusiasm about all of your pets! We had a cocker spaniel once...a white one with liver colored spots. We got him when we lived in Florida and being new to the south I thought he needed an appropriate name and stuck him with Colonel Beauregard. Poor thing! We did just call him Beau, but he was a dingbat. We absolutely could not train him in any way. When we moved back to PA with a brand new baby my aunt's boyfriend had a daughter who lived on a farm and had older kids. We all thought it would be a good match. The last I ever heard they couldn't break him of the habit of lifting his leg on the kids. Yikes!

Praying all is well there and that you remain safe through the storm!

  13. Poor Beau!! Cockers are usually smarter than that. I think my Willie Dog understood english, he did everything I told him to except look at the camera!
