Tuesday 4

 Valentine's Day

Hello and welcome to Tuesday 4 dedicated to the memory of Toni Taddeo, the founder, and hosted by Annie!  If you would like to join in the fun, click here.

Let's talk about St. Valentine's Day.

1. St Valentine paid for the weddings of poor girls.  Today weddings can cost a fortune.  What do you think about wedding expenses.

I believe most young women want a bells and whistles wedding.  The whole nine yards, as they say.  My oldest daughter wanted that type of wedding and that's what she had.  It was a beautiful wedding, the big church, reception at the yacht club and all that goes with it.  It was a wonderful day, not so much for our pocketbook.  Another daughter wanted a simple, but nice, back yard wedding.  We had a very pretty yard at the time.  We had just done some remodeling and the room leading out to the deck was still empty of furniture.  The doors going out were french doors, and Peggy used that empty room for the wedding party to gather, and she made her entrance through those doors onto the deck.  We had decorated with flowers and garland and twinkle lights, it was so pretty and so inexpensive.  So, my point is this,  you can have a pretty wedding and not spend a lot of money, the choice is up to the bride.

2. Do you or did you send Valentines to people?

I didn't send any valentines this year, but I have in the past.  It's just a fun thing to do.

3. Do you find Valentine's Day to be romantic.

Once again, that's a choice.  I love to have a little romance for Valentine's Day, maybe some fresh flowers, a box of candy or just some candles lit for the ambiance.

4. Do you do anything special for Valentine's Day with partners or family.

Mr D always gets me a pretty card and we might go somewhere special to eat.  Simple pleasures and the best.

Happy Valentine's Day folks.

Until Next Time

  3. Lovely answers. It's wonderful that you were able to create lovely weddings for your daughters, exactly what they wanted. Hopefully this is a once in a lifetime occasion, and it should be special. To me, the most important part is having loved ones and friend share it with us. That is what makes it most memorable.

  6. I agree completely, Mary. The type of wedding is up to the bride...she just needs to not put her poor parents in the poor house in the doing and as our daughter found out, you can have a lot of the bells and whistles for a fraction of the cost if you're creative. Have a blessed day!
