Valentine's Day
Hi and welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4, hosted by Annie!!
Happy Valentine's Day!
$24 billion dollars are spent on Valentines Day gifts! 145 million cards are sent out and the average spent on gifts is $197.50 per person.
1. As a kid did you exchange Valentines at school with the other children?
I sure did, it was always so much fun. As a child it was the neatest thing ever. lol
2. Do you have special traditions for the day or does it pass on without much hoopla?
No special traditions, but we do recognize the day. I have decorations around the house. Sometimes we exchange gifts, most of the time we don't.
3 Today is the number one top day for flower and candy gifts. The only other holidays that approach it are Christmas and Chanukah. Do you ever receive candy , jewelry or flowers for the day? Which is your favorite?
I have recieved all of those at one time or another. My favorite is chocolate candy!!! Sad to say I'm not supposed to eat candy anymore. I found one candy kiss on the floor, it was hiding just a little ways under our nightstand . . . I ate the whole thing. (It was still in it's wrapper.)
4. Zoos and Pet rescues will name cockroaches or unpleasant animals after your ex and issue you a certificate. They will even write your ex's name in cat litter for you. What do you think of this "tradition"?
I think it's the silliest thing I ever heard.
Thanks for hosting Annie!!
Happy Valentine's Day everybody!
Until Next Time
No Chocolate or candy for me either! I never received gifts for much of anything until lately. Now I got flowers for valentine's day and I was thrilled.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day Mary!!
Happy Valentine's Day Mary! Your blog is full of Valentine's delights! I enjoyed your sharing, and absolutely agree with your last answer - how sad that people would want to do such a thing! May you have a blessed and special day today! And maybe you can find some stevia-flavored candy to enjoy instead :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fun blog post. I enjoyed sharing Valentine cards at school as a child too. But I agree with you and Marilyn, that last thing is terrible. Forgiveness goes a long way, but the last item is so sad.
ReplyDeleteI did get flowers this year but we usually don't do gifts, etc. Dennis had Valentine flowers wating for me when I arrived home Friday night.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
Happy Valentine's Day
ReplyDeleteI remember decorating white bakery bags and hanging them across the chalkboard like a "PO Box" for Valentines. Good times!
ReplyDeleteI love animal rescues, this gimmick is just cruel. How would they like it if someone did that to them, I wonder.
Hi Mary! I always enjoyed the Valentine's Day parties in school too. Happy Valentine's Day! Have a nice week. ♥

The day is almost done but it's hopefully not too late to wish you and Mr D a happy one. Sad that you can't have chocolate any more. Maybe somewhere there's a specialty shop that makes chocolate that you're allowed. So many have dietary restrictions that you'd think someone would have invented some equally delicious substitute. GM
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine' Day Mary!!!
