Monday's Coffee Talk

I try to bloom every morning, these days I feel like I'm wilting on the stem

Have I mentioned it's hot?

So glad this is the last day of July, that means we're much closer to cooler weather.  Where I live we probably won't start having cooler temps until October, the nights will be cool lasting into the late mornings.  It will be pleasant to be outside.

Summer Trivia

In the summer heat, the iron in France's Eiffel Tower expands, making the tower grow more that 6 inches.

This Day in History

1961 Israel welcomes its one millionth immigrant

Jeremiah 30:1-3

Restoration of Israel

1 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord:

2 “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Write in a

book all the words I have spoken to you. 3 The days are coming,’

declares the Lord, ‘when I will bring my people Israel and Judah

back from captivity[a] and restore them to the land I gave their

ancestors to possess,’ says the Lord.”

I will bring back from captivity My people Israel and Judah:

This is a promise stated many times before and after in Jeremiah. Yet as this prophecy develops, it seems clear that this return from captivity is later and greater than the relatively soon return from the Babylonian exile.

This is especially indicated by the last words of this chapter, which tell us that in the latter days you will consider it (Jeremiah 30:24).  Jeremiah here looked beyond his present day and near future to see the latter days.

Family News:

Today is our youngest grandson's birthday.

He is a precious young man, we are so proud of him.
Happy 24th Birthday Travis!

AND, guess who's walking?
Henry took his first steps, it won't be long now until he's off and running!

On The Porch:

We have a baby living on our porch!
T
This tiny little lizard has been playing in my ivy for several days.  I think he likes it because it's out of the heat, probably a little cooler under the ivy.

Around The House:

One of my many favorite scriptures hangs over my stove.  We spend a lot of time in the kitchen so it's in a perfect spot to be seen every day.  A wonderful message from God, He takes care of us!

Isaiah 41:10

Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Today's Quote

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time.
~ John Lubbock

Today's Poem

Heat is a lemon lollipop - -
a sun that melts and bends and sticks.
It's a sweaty knees and trees that flop.
Heat is a lemon lollipop - -
delivering summer - - make it stop!
It presses down like burning bricks.
Heat is a lemon lollipop - -
a sun that melts and bends and sticks!

  5. HOT, yes. Even our crepe myrtles are hanging their heads; I thought perhaps they were dying, but no. Just exhausted.
Happy Birthday to Travis ... and a High 5 to Master Henry!

  6. Such handsome young men in your family! Happy birthday to one and an "atta boy" to the other! Yes Ma'am, it is hot all over and it seems to hang around forever in Texas and Oklahoma! We won't start cooling off until November. Well, not enough to matter, anyhow. I try not to complain about the heat because there will be snow on the ground before I know it, and I detest that more than the heat! Thank you for such a wonderful post.

    Grace & Peace,
    Pam
