Today we're going to talk about YELLOW.
Did you know this about Yellow?
If you were to travel back to the ancient empires of China, you'd find that yellow was a color specifically meant for royalty. During the Tang dynasty, it was decreed that only emperors could wear chihuang, a reddish-yellow that represented the sun; commoners were forbidden from donning the hue.
Yellow Trivia:
In 1963 Harvey Ball came up with the idea for the iconic yellow smiley face symbol we all know today. He was paid just $45 for the morale-boosting design.
Colors make your brain release different chemicals. In the case of yellow, this color makes the brain release serotonin, which in turn can make you happy!
Many fast food restaurants (like McDonald’s, In-N-Out, and Burger King) have a logo with the colors red and yellow because, according to color psychology, those two colors combined can make people passionately hungry.
(So, if you're dieting, don't look at anything yellow!)
John D. Hertz, who founded the Yellow Cab Company, chose to paint his taxis yellow after reading a study that the color is highly visible from great distances.
Yellow Rose of Texas
There's a yellow rose in Texas that I am gonna see
Nobody else could miss her, not half as much as me
She cried so when I left her, it like to broke my heart
And if I ever find her we never more will part
She's the sweetest little rosebud that Texas ever knew
Her eyes are bright as diamonds, they sparkle like the dew
You may talk about your Clementine and sing of Rosa Lee
But the Yellow Rose of Texas is the only girl for me
Interesting tidbit, the lady known as the Yellow Rose of Texas is buried in Morgan's Point, which is part of La Porte.
Around Town:
Mr D and I went for lunch at one of our favorite places, El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant. They have the best breakfast tacos, which we enjoyed with some good queso.
Family News:
Happy Birthday (Aug. 13th) to my younger brother, Wayne. He is a real hero, surviving many hardships in his life. Vietnam survivor, cancer survivor, brain aneurysm survivor, it was located in an area that the doctors tell said the survival rate was very small. God said otherwise. He fell through a window and almost cut his arm off, surgery was required, he was only 8 years old. He also had a minor problem as a newborn that required a short hospital stay before coming home. He has been betrayed by someone he loved, that hurt him deeply and yet, he kept on going. Good for you lil' bro.

Happy birthday to Wayne! I can't wear yellow clothing, but it's probably my favorite color. These are interesting factoids; I remember reading a long time ago that some municipalities were painting their fire engines yellow to be more visible in poor weather conditions.
ReplyDeleteYour brother sounds like an amazing man. Happy Birthday, Wayne.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know red and yellow colours made me hungry! I thought it was the thought of ice cream, and cinnamon buns, and.... Sorry. I got carried away.
I love your pretty tea cup. I should use some of mine for coffee now that I drink less tea. It's just that tea cups don't hold as much as mugs :)
