Tuesday 4

Welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4, hosted by Annie!

This is a photo of the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark, New Jersey.  It is the largest cathedral outside Europe. Not only is it beautiful inside and out but has a magnificent pipe organ   Its cornerstone was laid in 1899.

As buildings go she is a masterpiece of great workmanship.

1. What are some beautiful buildings in your neck of the woods?

Nothing special here, our capitol building in Austin is pretty.  I love the old architecture.

2.  What buildings of renown have you experienced or would like to experience? The Louvre? Maybe  Versailles? Things closer to home perhaps?

I've not visited any buildings of renown.  I would enjoy a visit to England and tour their castles/estates.  I love English history and to visit Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace would be great.

3. What do you think of the current trends in modern buildings?

I really haven't given it much thought, most are too sleek, very cold and uninviting.

4. If you could choose any style home you would like, what would it be? Victorian, Farm House, Craftsmen, Ranch, Georgian, Tudor, Cape Cod?

I think I would have a Cape Cod Farmhouse!

  2. I'm right there with you about modern design, largely cold and impersonal. Give me a cozy farmhouse with hooked rugs, fireplace and overstuffed furniture. Oh, books waiting to be read and a dog or two. Heaven!

  3. Hi Mary, I like your Tuesday 4 signature. Did you make it? My house is small and comfortable and that is all I need. Have a great day!

  6. A Cape Cod Farmhouse would be a lovely combination of two beautiful styles! Sounds pretty!! Your capitol building is big and beautiful too! I agree about the modern style being too cold and sleek. I like interesting design and style!

  8. I don't care much for modern buildings and I think I would choose a farmhouse look. I have visited lots of old buildings. The Louve, Versaille, Windsor, Buckingham Palace, Notre Dame, St. Pauls Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and many more in both Great Britain and France. They're beautiful, but there's no place like home!
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy
