God has four gifts for you . . .
A KEY for every problem, A LIGHT for every shadow, a PLAN for every tomorrow and a JOY for every sorrow.
"God’s gifts are
gentle whispers to the soul—
A key to unlock what
burdens your heart,
James 1:5- If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
A light to guide through
shadows that fall,
A plan that unfolds with grace each new start,
Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
And joy that sings even
when sorrows call.
John 16:22-Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.
“Down to the River to Pray” is a /or American Christian folk hymn. It dates to the mid-19th century as a Negro Spiritual, “The Good Old Way”.
There are many versions of the song, and this one became popular when it appeared in the sound-track of the movie, O Brother, Where Art Thou?
(another movie I haven't seen)
In the film of O Brother, Where Art Thou the hymn is sung as people wade into a river to be baptised (dunked in the water) by a preacher.
As I went down in the river to pray
Studyin' about that good ol' way
And who shall wear the starry crown?
Good Lord, show me the way
[Verse 5]
O, sinners, let's go down
Let's go down, come on down
O, sinners, let's go down
Weren't there any teachers or staff supervising at pre-K? I bet they were hypnotized by their phones and social media garbage, dereliction of duty.
ReplyDeleteOh, dear. Poor Adalyn. Beautiful ❤️ 💐 🌹 🌸 🏵 flowers.
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness ... poor Adalyn! That expression on her face! Those eyes! I pray she's (relatively) pain-free and heals quickly.
ReplyDeleteLove Alison Krauss' version of this song. (I hadn't seen that movie either.)
I hope she thinks the cast is cool. I do. Purple! We didn't have that when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteOh! SO glad little Adalyn doesn't need surgery! God is SO good!
