The
Funniest Thing Happened to Mr. D at Dairy Queen
It
all started when I called in our order to Dairy Queen. The young girl on the
phone had a bit of trouble getting it right and I had to repeat myself several
times. But eventually, everything seemed sorted, and off Mr. D went to pick it
up. When he pulled up to the drive-thru window, the girl said, “$19.99,
please.” Mr. D handed her a twenty and, with a grin, said, “You just about got
it all.” She didn’t react, just nothing at all and continued handing out our
order and pecking away at the register. Mr. D figured she probably didn’t catch
the joke.
Then,
with quiet precision, she handed him the receipt and a single penny. As he
prepared to drive off, she looked at him and said, “Don’t spend it all in one
place.”
Mr. D was stunned—and then burst out laughing. He chuckled all the way home, tickled by her perfectly timed comeback.
I
recently wrote about Hacksaw Ridge, see post HERE.
I finally watched the movie last Saturday—well, as
much of it as I could. There were several moments when I had to step away. It’s
such a powerful film with a truly remarkable story, but the scenes were very
graphic/gruesome and hard to watch, and there were several scenes of abusive behavior which
was also hard to see.
Despite all that, the story itself is one of true
bravery and conviction, based on true events, which makes it even more moving. I
did make it to the end although the tears were wanting to fall.
I think the book would have been better for me.

Happy September 😊 Mary. I laughed at don't spend it all in one place. God bless you 🙏 ❤️
ReplyDeleteMost people are such dullards, it's rare to come across a sarcastic, sharp sense of humor. I probably would have given her a tip, in spite of it being a pick up order.
ReplyDeleteLol, thanks for the smiles. I think we watched that movie, it does sound familiar. Wishing you a beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteNow I want to watch that movie. They're never easy, but I appreciate well-done flicks that make me FEEL. Mr. D's DQ experience is funny!
ReplyDeleteThe Dairy Queen story is funny. It's easy to spend $20 for not much food these days isn't it? I don't watch many movies or TV shows. We mosting watch youtube videos of people we watch often. Much calmer and we can choose the subject manner.

I am so happy the BER months are here too! September is my favorite because it's my birth month, but October is next in line. Love the DQ story. What DID Mr. D do with that penny?? I hear they are going to stop making pennies, so it may become a real collectors item someday! he'd better hang on to it! LOL. I don't know what Hacksaw ridge is. I guess I need to look it up.But it doesn't sound like something I want to see anyway. Probably hubby would, however. He likes those kinds of movies. I hope you all have a blessed and wonderful week! Starting out with DQ sounds like winner for dinner to me! LOL.
ReplyDeleteThat was funny about the penny! :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE your something to ponder!! So very true.
I do enjoy 'The Ber' months.
ReplyDeleteHappy September wishes.
All the best Jan
