 Monday Coffee Talk – August 17, 2026

Last week was a slow one for us.  Mr D had his regular check up with the cardiologist and all is well, he doesn’t go back until February.  Pacemaker is doing it’s job.

If you look closely you'll see a little white box sitting on the nightstand by the curtain.  That little box monitors his pacemaker, sending data straight to his doctor's phone.  They would probably know before Mr D if anything was wrong. Modern technology at work.

We had some plumbing issues, thankfully Mr D and his good friend Arnold were able to get things done without having to call a $$plumber$$, Our pocketbook was thankful.

Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me

We seldom eat fried foods these days, but sometimes we splurge and enjoy a bucket of fried chicken.  We didn’t order any sides as we were bringing it home and had things here to complete our meal.

COPD:

Sometimes what I want to do overloads what I can do. {{sigh}}

Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly. Birds fly over the rainbow; why, then, oh why can't I?

Chronological Bible Reading:

This past week we were reading in Jeremiah, as I read the following scripture I couldn't help but think, The Majesty of God.

Jeremiah 5:22

Should you not fear me?” declares the Lord.
    “Should you not tremble in my presence?
I made the sand a boundary for the sea,
    an everlasting barrier it cannot cross.
The waves may roll, but they cannot prevail;
    they may roar, but they cannot cross it.

Little brother Wayne celebrated his 77th birthday this past week. I called and sang Happy Birthday to him, and he just laughed and said he doesn’t have birthdays anymore. I don’t know why I still call him “little brother” — old habits have a way of hanging on. I suppose “younger brother” would be better, but in my heart he’ll always be my little brother. And I'll always be 'sister', which he calls me.

I sure hope this is true.

Hope everyone has a great week ahead.

Until Next Time

  4. "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"...I always loved that song...probably the only part I loved on The Wizard of Oz, that, and "there's no place like home" with the ruby slippers. LOL. I enjoyed your post. And I think your "little brother" probably loves that term of endearment coming from you. It's warm and comforting and reminds you both of home and the good old days. I love the picture of your pretty bedroom. And KFC is good now an then. We usually get our fried chicken or a rotisserie chicken at our local grocery store. It's pretty good and I didn't have to cook it...so that's a win win for me! We don't do the fried very often either, but once in a while it's just comfort food! I hope you enjoy this day!!

  5. Hi Mary, I agree, modern technology is so helpful! We don't eat much friend food either. I haven't made fried chicken in a lung time I understand you saying :little brother" I say the same thing even though he just turned 65, We won't get fall weather until the end of October.
    Have a nice week!
