Thursday Thoughts

Let's think about JOY!

Joy is cultivated through gratitude, mindfulness, and connection with others.

Joy is the echo of kindness given and received.”  - Samuel Pierce

“Small moments of joy are the stepping stones to a fulfilled life.” —Unknown

“To get joy, we must give it, and to keep joy, we must scatter it.” —John Templeton

From Nehemiah 8:10 - Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

This was posted by Jesus Journal Junkies on their facebook page. I was joyful when I saw it and knew I had to share the joy!!

Until Next Time

Wednesday Wisdom & Photo-a-day

Wednesday Wisdom

Photo-a-day with ChrissyT

July 28th - Word: blue

Sylvan Bay 2020

July 29th - Word: Flip Flops

For this word I had to go to the internet for my picture. I don't own a pair of flip flops, I don't like them and I don't wear them.

Flip flops are the only footwear that announce your arrival before you even show up. Flap‑flap‑flap,  it’s like they’re clapping because you finally decided to go somewhere.

Monday Coffee Talk

I don't have much to talk about today.

We’ve settled into one of those hot, lazy stretches here on the Texas Gulf Coast — the kind where the air feels heavy and the days drift by slow and quiet.

Heat and Humidity = Uncomfortable!

We've been staying home and staying cool, living day by day as the Lord provides. He certainly provides what we need, right when we need it, and these quiet summer days remind me to rest in that steady goodness.

The house is cool and peaceful which is a blessing, one of those things that God has provided.

So that’s my Monday — Just living gently and letting the Lord guide each day as it comes.

 Time for me to catch up on July Photo-a-day with ChrissyT.

July 25th

Today's Word: Far Away

My photo today has been shared before, but it fits today's 'far away' theme so I'm sharing again.

This is my SIL's family cabin in Wyoming.

The Kemah bridge 'far away' in the background, this photo was also taken by our SIL Scott.

July 26th - 9 o'clock

Nine o’clock isn’t just a number on a clock — it’s a feeling. At nine, my house settles into its rhythm: coffee in hand, shadows stretching the floor from the morning sun, and the day deciding what kind of story it wants to tell.

July 27th - Cloud

Clouds over Sylvan Bay and the sailboats getting ready to sail.  From the looks of the clouds they probably had some good wind that day.

Psalm 113:3

 From the rising of the sun to its going down
The Lord’s name is to be praised.

Photo-a-day July 24

July Photo-a-day with ChrissyT.

July 24th

Today's Word: Close Up

 This bloom is from a few years ago, it's a Double Peach Hibiscus.  It was a beautiful plant and grew quite large.

We are very thankful that TS Bertha didn't give us any issues. In fact, it veered just enough to put us on the clean side. Even the dirty side of the storm lessened before landfall.  Even though the area south of us got a lot of thunderstorms and gusty winds the storm wasn't as bad as it good have been.

Tammy stopped by for a few minutes, it's so good to have her home.  I don't think they are planning another trip until the fall.

Peggy & Hank were here for a while.  Peggy is helping Mr D put an item for sale on ebay.

Hank and I sat in the living room and played on our phones! I have several game apps that I enjoy.

What's for Lunch?

Ribs, potato salad, some left over slaw and sliced tomatos, with a glass of iced tea.

I like this quote from Max Lucado,

“God never said the journey would be easy, but He did say the arrival would be worthwhile.”

This is a great reminder that the hard days don’t mean we’ve wandered off God’s path. They’re simply the hills and bends of a road He already knows by heart. He walks every mile with us, steady as sunrise, patient as grace.

Until Next Time

Photo-a-day Ordinary Moment

 July Photo-a-day with ChrissyT.

July 23rd

Todays Word: An Ordinary Moment

I think this photo depicts an ordinary moment in the life of a turtle.

There was a little turtle

Basking in the sun.

Enjoying the moment and

Having so much fun!!

Sometimes the simplest scenes hold the most peace. My son snapped this photo while walking around town — a turtle sunbathing on a fallen log, soaking up the warmth of the day. There’s something wonderfully ordinary about it, yet it feels like a quiet reminder to slow down and enjoy the sunshine when it finds us.
🐢  🐢  🐢

A serving of cottage cheese with a big scoop of crushed pineapple on top, oh so good on a hot day.

The grands are gearing up for school which starts here in a couple of weeks. So hard for me to believe I have two great grands in high school this year.
Sweet girls, remember to walk with the Lord.

I am bound for the promised la-nd
I am bound for the promised land
Oh who will come and go with me
I am bound for the promised land

Until Next Time

Photo-a-day and other Stuff!

 Here we go again!

Playing along with July Photo-a-day with ChrissyT.

July 22nd

Today's Word: Tree

Once again, I'm sharing a picture by Tammy, taken on one of their road trips.

I love this picture, Texans love Texas💗.

This crepe myrtle lives in my front yard, it's so pretty when it blooms.

This one was taken by Rusty on one of his walks around town.  We have walking paths throughout our community.
🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳

We are alert to the storm brewing in the gulf.  Her name is Bertha and she's chugging along at a slow pace.  We are dead center in the cone, but forecasters are predicting a minor impact to our area.  You really never know for sure what they're going to do, I've seen them intensify and veer onto another course.  It's just a matter of staying alert and being prepared.

Along with The Price Is Right, I also watch Jeopardy each morning.  It's challenging when you try to play along . . . as I do.  It's seldom I have the answer/question, but the other morning I got 4 right.  I was so proud of myself. lol

Dinner yesterday was a baked potato, fully loaded, from King's Barbecue, one of my favorites.  It didn't disappoint; it was so good.

The heat is still keeping me inside and I am missing being on the porch in my swing.  Seems the heat is bothering my breathing more this year than in the past. {{sigh}}

The girls and I are continuing our chronological Bible daily readings. One of the scriptures on yesterday's reading was Psalm 46, even though I've read it many times, it still speaks to my heart.

Psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength,
A[a] very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the [b]midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah

There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,
The holy place of the [c]tabernacle of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her, she shall not be [d]moved;
God shall help her, just [e]at the break of dawn.
The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved;
He uttered His voice, the earth melted.

The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

Come, behold the works of the Lord,
Who has made desolations in the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariot in the fire.

10

Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!

11

The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

Another Day - Another Photo

July 21st

Today's Word: Red

I have shared many photos of the red in my home. When I saw 'red' as today's challenge I wanted to share something different. This magazine has been on my shelf for many years, the copyright date is November 25, 2002.  It's a great magazine that I enjoy thumbing through every now and again.

There is a designer somewhere that did a fantastic job on the front cover.  The red LIFE stands out and gets your attention quickly.  A constant reminder that says, "Here I am, pick me up!"

Playing along with Chrissy T

God promises, "I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you"(Heb. 13:5). In our quiet moments, we can bring our needs directly to Him and discover that His presence is with us, it is real.

Monday Coffee Talk July 20th

 Monday - Monday - Monday

You come around too soon!

Tammy and Bo are home from their 10day road trip!! They visited several universities, botanical garden in Alabama and Tammy finally got her wish to put her feet in the Atlantic Ocean!

She also came with gifts! Love that girl. They stopped at a roadside market in one of the Carolina's - and she found some Mayhaw jelly, which I love and it can't be bought in any grocery stores I know of. She alsp brought some Apple Cinnamon Pecan jam. Apple Cinnamon is another of my favorites which is hard to find in a store.

Needless to say - it was so good!

I enjoyed every bite.😊

Peggy & Hank also came for a visit and she helped Mr D do some things on his laptop. Both of them are so tech savvy.

We used our gift card to enjoy a Mariska Bowl from Gringo's. It's one of our favorites on their menu.

Mr D had another eye treatment on the 15th, he thinks it's really helping.

I just started a new book series, The AD Chronicles, by Bodie and Brock Thoene. I've read other series by these authors and enjoyed them.

Todays Word: Colorful

Left over beads from all my diamond art projects.

I keep them in this large jar. I don't have a clue how I might use them in the future. For now, I'm having fun watching the jar slowing filling up.

Until Next Time

Have thine own way, Lord, have thine own way!
Thou art the potter, I am the clay
Mold me and make me after thy will
While I am waiting, yielded and still

Photo-a-day Black & White

ChrissyT's Photo-a-day

July 19th

Today's Word: Black & White

This clock hangs in my she-shed aka spare bedroom!

Bitsy was in yesterday's post, but I can't let black and white go by and leave her behind.

Our first born is celebrating her birthday today!
Happy, Happy Birthday Tracey.

Until Next Time
To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life our redemption to win,
And opened the life-gate that all may go in.

Today's Word: animal/insect

My photo today was taken a few years ago by Tammy. She had just arrived at the house when she noticed a hawk perched on the street light.  At the time we had Bitsy Baby and Buddy Boy and I was always alert to hawks flying around because they are famous for diving at little creatures.

Another photo of Tammy while she was on a mission trip to Africa.

My girl so far from home and loving on an elephant! WoW

Today's Word: On The Shelf

Just so happens I have a diamond art that will do just fine.

Someone ask me what I did with my diamond art when I finished them.  I've done too many to hang so they go into my portfolio to be enjoyed when the mood strikes!
