The Simple Woman's Daybook

I was visiting with Annie at  Cottage by the Sea and her post was The Simple Woman’s Daybook.  I enjoyed her post and thought I would join in.

    Outside my window . . .

Another dreary day, sunshine where are you?

I am thinking…

About the death of Joni Lamb, very sad.

I am thankful…

For the blessings and provisions from God.

In the kitchen…

Is where I am as I write this post. Because the skies are overcast it’s dark with only my lamp shining bright.

I am wearing…

Teal pajama with black designs all over them.

I am creating . . .

Not much today.

I am going…

Shopping via Amazon for some things we need.

I am reading…

Morning devotion Unto The Hills from Billy Graham.

Saved By an Angel

Front Porch Tales

I am hoping…

For sunshine and mild temps.

I am looking forward to…

Meeting our new great grand daughter in a few weeks!  Due date is May 19th.

Around the house…

Peace and quiet.

Mr D and his buddy Arnold are in the garage changing strings on their guitars.

A favorite quote for today…

Charles Spurgeon — “God’s mercy is so great that you may sooner drain the sea of its water than diminish the great mercy of God.” A reminder that His faithfulness is not fragile—it’s vast.

~Issue 4 ~ 2023~

from my desk -

My desk is a mess.  Lately it has been a catch all, things just appear from nowhere.  Well, it seems that way.  I'll spend time filing, trashing, putting things away, and dusting.  I no more turn my back and there's a mess again.  {{sigh}}  I'm just thankful I'm still able to get the clean up done!  It might be a small blessing, but a blessing just the same.

one by one

One by one I'm getting first of the year projects done!  I'll soon finish the St. Patrick's Day cross stitch, ane move on to something else.  It's good for me to keep my hands and mind busy.

sing praise -

All the time.  I love so many praise songs, up tempo and down tempo.  Lively and sacred.  But around the house you will easily find me singing the Doxology.  I just love the words and the melody.

at the well -

I had to think about this one.  First thing that came to mind was the lady that Jesus met at the well.  In a Bible Study recently I learned that it wasn't a chance meeting, Christ had a plan, He purposely was there at the time He knew this woman would be there.  He already knew her past, yet he used her to tell others about His saving grace.  In the beginning she had no idea who she was talking too, and by the time the conversation was over she knew she had met her Lord and Savior, she was redeemed.  God is like that, He will seek us, and talk to us, and redeem us, no matter our baggage.
A Loving Savior, there is no doubt.
I would love to meet Him at the well, wouldn't you?

You'll find the story of the lady at the well in John 4.  You can click HERE to read about it in Bible Gateway.

 Hearth and Home -

Spent a fun afternoon putting this tablescape together.  I enjoyed including the mug, it's one of Tara's creations.

a woman's altar -

Heavenly Father,
I pray that you will give me
strength to be strong for You in the
world today.  Lord, you know the struggles that I
will face today.  Be with me as I go through them.
Carry me if I am too weak and forgive me if I stumble.  When I succeed Lord, all praise and glory will be yours.
In Your Precious Name,
Amen

noteworthy -

GLOW celebrated it's 8th birthday today.  We had such a great time eventho two were missing.  Mary and Arlene were 'under the weather,' they sure were missed.

Simple Woman's Daybook

The Simple Woman Daybook by Peggy!!
Link HERE!

For Today

Looking out my window
I see a beautiful day!

I am thinking

What can I do to enjoy this beautiful day!

I am thankful
For the beauty of nature, God has given us so much to enjoy.

One of my favorite things

Today, during this shut down of life, one of my favorite things is the videos my granddaughter shares of her children.

I am creating

A mess!! Trying to rearrange some storage areas, why oh why did I start that?!

I am wearing

Pajamas, navy blue with white polka dots and pink flowers.

I am reading (read) /watching (watched) / listening to

My Bible, I'm watching good old movies and I'm listening to 105.7fm on my radio. Not all at the same time, but throughout the day.

I am hoping

I hope to be with my family some day very soon. Because of my COPD they have been so protective of me.....but I am so ready to be with them.

I am learning

They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but I do learn new things. I don't think you can go through life and not learn something new everyday.

In my kitchen
Is a very large window by our table where I can sit and enjoy the outside. I love it!

In my garden

My garden is just pot plants on my porch. I can't do much gardening these days, but I can keep the pot plants watered and growing. Porch sitting is one of my favorite things to do and it's nice to have pretty flowers around me.

Post Script

I love to sit on the porch and enjoy the flowers.

Shared Quote

I think that no matter how old or infirm I may become, I will always plant a large garden in the spring. Who can resist the feelings of hope and joy that one gets from participating in nature's rebirth?

“To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.” – Audrey Hepburn

“Don’t wait for someone to bring you flowers. Plant your own garden and decorate your own soul.” – Luther Burbank

A moment from my day
Yep, a moment (lots of moments) in the day of the Covid 19 shutdown!!

The Simple Woman's Daybook

I'm joining Peggy for her meme

 The Simple Woman's Daybook.

For Today

Looking out my window
And I'm seeing the yard across the street, it's big with lots of trees.
Hoping I'll see a little squirrel out playing and a few birds singing.

I am thinking
About the mess the world is in, it seems to be getting worse every day.  I pray for our country and our leaders.  Lord, give them wisdom and light their path.  Please send a revival to our wonderful country that we may turn from our wicked ways and enjoy the many blessings you've given us.

I am thankful
We have a God that hears our prayers, even though I don't always understand His plans, I know they are the best plans.

One of my favorite things
Enjoying my first cup of coffee while sitting at the kitchen table looking out the window!

I am creating
A new cross stitch, I'll be sharing later.

I am wearing
I'm still in my pj's!  I'm a late dresser these days.

I am watching
Nothing right now, but I have several new dvd's on the shelf waiting for me.

I am hoping
My sweet granddaughter in love tells us very soon there's a new baby on the way.
Matt and Kaylea on their wedding day two years ago.

I am learning
I'm always learning something, you are never too old to learn.  I've been learning about the best foods to have in your diet when you have COPD.  I'm very happy to know I love them all.  Go me!!

In my kitchen
I'm working on a new project, I'm getting together a few of my MoM's recipes, ones she wrote in her own hand, to have copied and framed. I will enjoy seeing them whenever I'm spending time in that special room. Yes, I think the kitchen is a very special room, a place where family gathers to laugh, talk and eat.

Post Script
I saw this on facebook and loved it!
I want one!

A moment from my day
Not too many days will go by that you won't find Mr D and I driving down our Main Street.

Closing Notes
I'm sorry to say my granddaughter was in a fender bender the other morning, but I'm so happy to say she wasn't hurt.
Now that I know that I will share something so cute and funny about the whole incident. Merica was in her car seat in the back, when Maegan saw the guy turning in front of her she started honking her horn. She said every time she honked Merica said, "beep beep".
Sweet little innocence didn't have a clue what was happening and how bad it could have been.

The Simple Woman's Daybook

I'm joining in on Peggy's SWD meme

For Today

Looking out my window
I see a very cold day with sunshine!  Just the way I like it.

I am thinking
I need to get in the kitchen and do some cleaning.  Amazing how often that needs to be done.

I am thankful
For all that God has provided.

One of my favorite things
Our family Thanksgiving dinners.
Thanksgiving 2018
It's wonderful for all the family to be together at the same time.

I am creating
Does putting together a jigsaw puzzle count?

I am wearing
I'm still in my pj's, it's a lazy morning.

I am reading
Invitation
From the minds of Bill Myers, Frank Peretti, Angela Hunt, and Alton Gansky, Invitation compiles the first four episodes of the Harbingers series, each following a different character.

BRENDA - The street-hustling tattoo artist who sees images of the future.

THE PROFESSOR - The atheist ex-priest ruled by logic.

ANDI - The professor's brilliant but geeky assistant who sees inexplicable patterns

TANK - The naïve, big-hearted jock with a surprising connection to a healing power.

The four find out that pockets of darkness are emerging throughout the world. Whether it involves a mysterious house, the unexplainable death of animals around the world, or an otherworldly little girl, each mystery they solve brings them closer to the ultimate explanation of what's happening. What will happen if they don't solve the mysteries in time?

If you're familiar with Frank Peretti you know his books are very challenging, very mysterious, and very deep, BUT always good.  I think I've read all of his books and enjoyed them all.

I am hoping
Mr D and I stay well during this flu season.  We got our flu shots in October, so hopefully we'll be okay.

I am learning
The more you lean on God the stronger you become.

In my kitchen
My kitchen table, a lot of precious memories happen here.
~ Christmas 2018 ~

In my garden
I don't have a garden, but I do have a lot of pot plants.

Post Script
I found a new facebook page that I love,
I Just Love To Decorate
It's fun to see how others decorate their homes.  Right now I'm seeing a lot of Christmas Trees, a little early for me but I'm getting some great ideas.

Closing Notes
While we can't fully understand all there is to know about God, we can always strive to know Him better. And the more we learn of Him, the greater our devotion to Him. An increasing knowledge of Him leads to growing worship, praise, hope, and joy.
