Speak and Listen

We serve an awesome God, He is so good to His children.  We speak, He is faithful to listen and when He speaks, we also should be faithful to listen.  For His words to us are for our benefit, for He knows the plans He has for us.  A plan of peace and hope, one that will give us a wonderful future in His presence.

 

  

GOD SPEAKS

 

 .....Son of man, receive into your heart all My words that I speak to you, and hear with your ears.

Ezekiel 3:10

 

 

WE LISTEN

 

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

Hope

Hope...we have nothing if we don't have Hope.

I've always loved the words to this old hymn.

Billy Graham once said, “The greatest need in our world today is the need for hope. We thrive on hope, we rejoice in hope, we witness in hope, knowing that experience works hope. ‘Happy is he . . . whose hope is in the Lord his God (Psalm 146:5).’ There is hope for the future. It is centered in the Person of Jesus Christ who died for our sins and rose from the grave and is alive now. I have staked all that I am or ever hope to be on Him."

 Because He Lives, I have Hope for tomorrow.

Encouraged Beyond Measure

 Have I mentioned lately how hot it is on the porch?  I know I have, but it's really hot out there!  I did manage to make a pretty setting for my coffee and I did take a few sips before running back inside to the AC.
 

 

I love pink, it made the heat seem cooler. 


Well, not really.

 

 

 

Many years ago Mr D and I were going thru some tough times.  A situation in our life that was very stressful.  During that time someone gave me a little card, on that card were these words:

Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

 


That short little prayer encouraged me beyond measure.  I put it on my dresser where I could easily see it as I got ready for work.  I read it and I prayed it.



It blessed me and encouraged me.  Years later my brother-in-law was going thru a very sad situation.  I gave him my card.  I hope it helped him as it helped me.

 

 


Although known most widely in its abbreviated form above, the entire prayer reads as follows...

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen

Morning Coffee on the Porch

His Mercy Endures Forever

It's a beautiful morning on the porch, just a little hot, but it is summertime after all. God meets me here each morning, He's always anxious to hear what I have to say.  Some mornings we just have quiet time, some mornings I just can't seem to stop talking and other mornings He does all the talking!  Those are the best mornings!

I love this quote from Patsy Clairmont

~ How I love that we can't be too young or too old, too broken or bruised, too tired or tattered for God to work in us! His mercies are new every morning. ~ 

 

His mercy is new every morning, I receive it every morning.  His mercy endures forever!

Time alone with God every morning before you start the day can change your circumstances and move mountains in front of you.  His mercy endures forever!

 A highlight in the Book of 2 Chronicles is verse three of chapter seven: “When all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord on the temple, they bowed their faces to the ground on the pavement, and worshiped and praised the Lord saying; ‘For He is good, for His mercy endures forever.’” That verse, while found somewhat hidden in what could be called a history book, reminds us of a reality that can get us through life, regardless of the circumstances we’re facing.  When we remember God is good and His mercy endures forever, we can face any hardship and any loss.  Remember this today:  He is good, and His mercy endures forever.  And we’ll make it.

Pour Me Another Cuppa Coffee!

Coffee is obviously the most popular morning beverage.  Most adults enjoy that first cup of coffee each morning.

It amazes me how a single cup of coffee carries so much influence on our society.  Many people admit that without their morning cup of coffee they wouldn't be able to function.  I don't think I'm quite that bad, but my morning coffee does make me function quicker.  It just gets my 'motor' running!

Is it the taste,
or is it the scent,
Announces each morning,
wide-eyed intent.

Yes, I'm on the porch again having my coffee.  It's a wonderful place to be and you'll find me here every morning.  I don't stay out there too long these days, it's getting hot in Texas!

We often go to breakfast at our local Denny's Diner.  A year or so ago we noticed they had new mugs and we liked them.  So Mr D just asked our waitress if we could purchase a couple of their new mugs, and she said yes! I have a small collection of mugs from various places around town.  It's a fun thing to do!

Worrier or Truster?

Calling all Women of Faith....

 

 

....what's your stance on worry?  The sunday school answer, of course, is that worry isn't necessary because you only need to trust God.  Trusting God is a great privilege and comfort for a believer.  But,  how many women say the "I trust God" words while staying up all night worrying about things?  How do you make the transition from all-night-worrier to full-out-truster?

 

 

Take it a step at a time. The next time you have an issue that causes you worry, give it to God. Then, every time the urge pops up to take it back from Him and worry about it, intentionally and even aloud, state that this particular issue is God's to deal with.

 

 

Learning to trust God is a journey ~ take the first step!

 

Every evening I turn my worries over to God.  He's going to be up all night anyway!

Coffee On The Porch

Reflections:

Sunday morning I had my coffee on the porch and reflected on the week gone by. 

Monday ~ I remembered that freedom is not free.  A very high price is paid for each freedom we enjoy.  I gave thanks to God for our men and women in the military.

 

Tuesday ~ I was reminded to make time for quiet moments so I can draw closer to God and hear His whispers. I was also reminded to open my heart and receive the love He instills there.

 (James 4:8a)

 

Wednesday ~ I learned He hears our tears like a prayer.



Thursday ~ I rejoiced to be blessed beyond measure and reminded to count those blessings day by day ~ then SHOUT a big Thank You to the Lord. (James 5:13)



 

 Friday ~ I felt very secure knowing He sends His angels to defend and protect me.

Does anyone have a 'spacing' problem with blogger?  Sometimes my spacing in off and blogger just will not let me correct it?

It happens when I go back and make a correction, taking words out or adding them in.  Just wondering if this happens to anyone else.....

 

 



Magazines

Not much happening today so I decided it was a good day to look through some magazines.  Made some fresh coffee, got my magazines and went to the porch.  It was an overcast day, not too cool nor too hot, perfect porch sitting weather.

 

 

 I don't always read whole articles, I mostly enjoy reading the headline and the first few sentences. After that I'm either caught up in the story or ready to turn the page.  I would guess we're all like that with magazines!

 

  I just subscribed to Midnight Call and I'm anxious to thumb thru the pages.  It's a prophecy magazine and I have always found prophecy interesting.

 

 

This is an article in Charisma that caught my interest.  I really enjoyed the following paragraph.

 

A Heart to Seek God

The heart to seek God is birthed in us by God Himself.  Like all desires, it is not something that can be legislated or forced, but rather it grows within us as we become exposed to God's nature.  He creates an appetite in us for Himself by lavishing us with the reality of His goodness ~ His irresistible glory.  The realities of His goodness burn deeply into the hearts of all who simply take the time to behold Him.

 

I believe that to be so true.

 

 

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Porch Sitting with Helen!

Hello Blogger Friends and Facebook Friends too!  It's a beautiful day and you'll never guess what I have done....

 

 

I have set up my old desktop computer in the garage!  Yes I have.  It's such a gorgeous day, much too nice to be inside.  I'm out here with the garage door open, listening to the birds singing, the leaves whispering in the breeze, and an occasional car passing by.  I figure I can enjoy this space until the end of May, then the heat will get to be too much ~ but I'm going to enjoy it while I can!
