Hello Monday, weren't you just here?
Hello everyone, Please come in. I've got plenty of hot coffee or I'll gladly make you a cup of tea if you prefer♥
Today's Coffee Trivia
Coffee beans are actually seeds, which come from the inside of a fruit very similar to a
cherry. In fact, they are often called coffee cherries.
The plant’s scientific name begins
with the genus Coffea, followed by the species. For example, arabica beans come from
the Coffea arabica plant. Its pits are cleared of fruit and dried before being shipped away
for roasting. (Do not try this with actual cherries.)
Family News:
Travis and Savannah are on the road making their way to the cabin in Wyoming where they will join the rest of the family for a nice vacation.
Here they are at The Grand Canyon.
Tammy is home from her trip to Africa which makes me a happy momma!
Telling the elephants good bye!Youngest daughter Peggy has been on the go this summer. A trip to Oregon and then a cruise.
It's good to have her home too.On The Porch:
I'm not enjoying the porch this summer, it's much too hot out there. It's always hot this time of year, but this year it's been extremely hot, more so than our normal temps for this time of year. We've had days of 100+ degrees with a heat index as high as 114*. My COPD makes is hard to breathe when it's that hot. So, I sit in the house with the blinds open, at least I can see out and enjoy what few pot plants I have that are surviving.
I am so excited to tell you my Hearts of Hawaii are making a comeback, I almost lost them during the hard freeze we had last winter.
This Day in History:
1758 George Washington elected to Virginia House of Burgesses representing Frederick County.
1866 Tennessee becomes 1st Confederate state readmitted to Union
1901 Writer O. Henry is released from prison in Austin, Texas after serving three years for embezzlement from a bank.
Check out these temps! WoW, that's HOT!
1936 118°F (48°C), Minden, Nebraska (state record)
1936 121°F (49°C), near Alton, Kansas (state record)
In The News:
I read an article where the CDC is advising the public to prepare for a severe RSV, Flu & Covid season this fall. Certainly not good news for anyone, especially those of us who suffer from chronic lung disease. I don't get out too much, but I'll be getting out even less during the fall months. I survived covid a couple of years ago, even surprised my doctors! The Great Physician wasn't surprised at all, He just wasn't ready for me, I guess He still has things for me to do.
Around the House
The window in the guest bedroom, a nice reminder.
Today's Scripture:
My help comes from the Lord
Who made heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:2
Today's Quote:
"There is not a single thing that Jesus cannot change, control, and conquer because He is the living Lord."
Franklin Graham
Blessings to All
Until Next Time
Psalm 121 is a very special one for me. It was my husband's favourite.
ReplyDeleteYou are certainly having some high heat there, here we have rain!
I would love for it to rain, send us some! :)
DeleteSo glad your Tammy's home safely! I am a wee bit jealous of her being able to get up close and personal with that elephant.
ReplyDelete'Sure don't know what's going on with this extreme heat and flooding. Maybe this might serve as a 'wake-up' call for some who haven't found a relationship with the Father. Have a blessed day, my friend.
Things are happening, that's for sure! God in His mercy has to use severe tactics to wake us up. Hope you have a blessed day also.♥
DeleteFranklin Graham's quote is spot on! Your Heart of Hawaii is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this coffee time with you, even though I don't drink coffee. I already had my tea, so am just enjoying reading. So happy your family is enjoying their trips and vacations and also coming back home! That elephant sure is big! I can't sit out on my porch either. We aren't quite as hot as you are, but hot enough to keep me inside. The humidity makes it seem even hotter. We are SO thankful for our AC working overtime! Fall will be here soon (I hope) and it will cool things down a bit, though still not like those who are further north. Still, it will be better than it is now! Take care of yourself and stay cool indoors. Our outdoor time is coming when everyone else has to stay indoors because it is too cold where they are! LOL. (((hugs)))

DeleteYou certainly have hot weather!! I hope things cool down a bit once August arrives but you may have to wait until September.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you girls came home safe and sound. We don't quit worrying....I mean..being concerned for their well-being just because they're all grown up. Granny M
I just loved this post, Mary!! I'm happy that your loved ones are all back where they should be, safely at home. Great photos! It is hotter there than here. My goodness!! I agree that Jesus is in control!!
