We went out for lunch on Friday and treated ourselves to some delicious seafood, followed by a relaxing drive before heading home. The outing was lovely—I especially enjoyed the overcast skies, which helped keep the heat at bay.
Everything was going well until we got home and discovered my oxynator had stopped working. That’s always frightening. I called for service right away, and it was after 8 p.m. when the technician arrived. Thankfully, I had my portable unit to rely on in the meantime. By 9, all was well again—a brand-new machine was up and running, and it’s noticeably quieter than the one I had before.
To top off the weekend, Bo and Tammy stopped by with little Adalyn. She is absolutely adorable, and I had such a wonderful time with her. What a gift that visit was.
A great personality for such a little one.
I had promised myself no Amazon for a while—but life had other plans. The night light over the garage, which lights up the front of the house, went out. And not just the bulb—the entire fixture quit working. So, Mr. D asked me to order another one just like it… and just like that, hello Amazon! It was delivered the very next day, and Rusty had it installed by late afternoon. Problem solved!
Saturday morning once again found me on the porch, quietly swinging while the coffee brewed—have I mentioned how much I adore porch-sitting?☺☺☺ There’s something comforting about the rhythm of that swing and the gentle anticipation of a great day.
As I rocked along, a tiny lizard peeked his head over the fence, and I know he was looking right at me! He bobbled his head thoughtfully, clearly assessing the scene. Then, with surprising agility, he leapt over the fence and landed gracefully on the top runner board. After pausing just a moment, he scurried about a foot forward, stopped, and resumed his curious head-bobble.
He was clearly on a mission—or maybe just enjoying a little Saturday exploration.
Next, he darted down the support post, paused again for one last head wiggle, and dove straight into the hibiscus bush, disappearing into its leafy green embrace.
It was such a simple moment, yet I found myself absolutely delighted to be his audience. Of course, I didn’t have my phone or camera handy, so no pictures to share.
Gentle Reflection: Sometimes, the quiet visitor—the bobbling lizard, the rustle in the hibiscus, or the first whisper of morning breeze—feels like a divine nudge, reminding us to pause and notice. There’s grace in these small encounters, and joy waiting in the ordinary.
Even when we're not seeking, God's creation speaks—inviting us to lean into stillness, to let our hearts swing a little slower, and to be fully present in the unfolding wonder around us.
"Be still, and know that I am God." — Psalm 46:10
This beautiful double peach hibiscus is from several years ago.
Have a Marvelous Monday everybody!
