The Tear Jar

You keep track of all my sorrows.

You have collected all my tears in your bottle.

You have recorded each one in your book.

Psalm 56:8

A scripture I'm very familiar with, and yet I'm going to share with you something I didn't know.  Something that pertains to this scripture.

In the ancient Near East, Jewish women collected their tears in a tear jar and poured them out to God in worship as a sign of faith, embodying God's message in Psalm 56:8 where He says He keeps our tears in a bottle.

 This I did not know.  How precious those women were, such an act of faith and trust.

You keep track of all my sorrows.

You have collected all my tears in your bottle.

Think of it, friends —

The One who holds our hearts is willing to hold our tears.

The One who sits on high stoops low to share our sorrow.

7 Things That Happen When We Pray

Prayer has the amazing power of making your world slow down. When life is moving to fast, spend some time in prayer. The reflection will always help!

Praying for others, especially in their presence, can be an amazing encouragement. They will know your love as well as the love of God!

Praying about your troubles will ease your load! God is eager to take on your burden and love you the entire way!

When you pray you are joining with all Christians past and present, lifting your voices to God in perfect harmony!

Praying to God is an act of worship. In prayer you are praising Him for all that He has done and is yet to do. Praise God!

Every time you pray, God is listening. Think about how amazing that is! God has the power to transform your life from the inside out through prayer.

Ephesians 6:18

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

A Matter of Time

Welcome to Tuesday 4, a collection of 4 questions each week.

Let's discuss time!

1. Are meals eaten at certain times in your home or are they more spontaneous?

When we were raising our children meals were at certain times and supper was always the entire family sitting at the table.  As the kids grew and became involved in outside activities meal times started changing. Four children with different activities at different times meant meals were at different times also, and not always together.  It bothered me for a while but when I saw everyone was happy and doing okay I calmed down and accepted a new way of doing things that met the needs of all the family.

2. If you attend religious services or club meetings, are they morning, afternoon or evening? Are there advantages/disadvantages to that time?

My ladies group meets once a week for lunch. Because of Covid19 we've only met twice since February, and I am missing this wonderful group of ladies!  

At this time in my life I'm available to meet at any time so there isn't any disadvantage.

3.Are you in bed and up in the mornings at a regular time each day?

Yes, but it sure has changed over the years.  It was a long time after retirement that my pattern changed, it just kind of evolved.  For many years it was up at 5:30am and to bed by 8:00pm.  Now it's to bed around midnight and up at 9:00am.  I never thought I would see the day I would sleep until 9 in the morning!

4.Do you set apart specific times during the day or week to do certain things like study, shopping, laundry, visiting? 

Once again, being retired I can do things when the mood strikes!  I do stay on top of things but there is no schedule, no rhyme or reason. 

Staying home as much as we are Mr D and I decided the best way to spend our time is in another good Bible Study.  We haven't done one together in a while, it's time to get busy!

We are looking forward to the arrival of 'Revealing the Mysteries of Heaven by David Jeremiah.  I've enjoyed his sermons on this subject and I think Mr D and I will enjoy this study.

The Chosen

I spent most of the week-end watching The Chosen.  The Chosen is a television drama based on the life of Jesus Christ, created, directed and co-written by American filmmaker Dallas Jenkins, who is the son of Jerry Jenkins, co-writer of the Left Behind Series. 

The series' creators are hoping to distinguish the new series from previous portrayals of Jesus by crafting a multi-season, episode-based story. 

Jonathan Roumie

Jonathan Roumie is the actor who plays Jesus, I think his portrayal is one of the best I've ever seen.

I didn't like the way they portrayed Matthew, it just didn't seem right to me, of course that's just my opinion.  If you've watched this series I would love to know what you think.

They also left out the forty days and nights Jesus spent in the wilderness before he started His ministry.  There is an important message there, one that should have been shared.

Still, I enjoyed all eight episodes and hope they are able to have a season two.

Bruce Marchiano

Another actor that I think did a wonderful portrayal of Jesus is Bruce Marchiano in the Visual Bible - Matthew series.

Matthew 15:1 - 28:20 - The year is about 62 A.D., and the aging apostle Matthew recalls the remarkable events he witnessed as a young man. As his story unfolds, the centuries melt away and we are intimately involved in the life of Jesus. We share the mystery and the wonder of His birth. We witness His baptism and temptation in the wilderness. We experience the compassion and hope of the Sermon on the Mount. Walk with Jesus through Galilee as He calls His disciples, performs the first miracles, and begins teaching His world-changing message of love and redemption.

I just ordered a few more Visual Bible series, The Gospel of John and The Road to Emmaus, I'm very anxious for them to arrive.

Mr D and I have been staying close to home where it's warm and comfortable.  We do have sunshine today even though it is still cold outside.  The sun sure is inviting, we might venture out today and run some errands and have a bite to eat.
