Over & Over Again

1. One Movie You'd Watch Over & Over Again?
There are so many it's hard to decide on just one.  I really enjoy The Shadow Riders and if I see it on the TV guide menu you can bet I'll be watching it.
I love the cast, Tom Selleck, Sam Elliot and Katherine Ross!

2. One Book You'd Read Over & Over Again?

Besides the Bible, I loved the Left Behind Series.  I could read that series over and over.

Another one I could read over and over. . .
When I was in 8th grade my literature class read Great Expectations, wow, what a great book.

Overview

Perhaps Dickens's best-loved work, Great Expectations tells the story of Pip, a young man with few prospects for advancement until a mysterious benefactor allows him to escape the Kent marshes for a more promising life in London. Despite his good fortune, Pip is haunted by figures from his past—the escaped convict Magwitch, the time-withered Miss Havisham, and her proud and beautiful ward, Estella—and in time uncovers not just the origins of his great expectations but the mystery of his own heart. A powerful and moving novel, Great Expectations is suffused with Dickens's memories of the past and its grip on the present, and it raises disturbing questions about the extent to which individuals affect each other's lives.

3. One TV Series You'd Watch Over & Over Again?

Mr. D. and I love the old sitcoms.  We have watched The Andy Griffith show so many times we know the script backwards and forwards.

4. One Song You'd Listen To Over & Over Again?
I can't pick just one song, I listen to gospel music and church hymns all the time, the same songs over and over again.

Autumn This Or That

1. Pumpkin Carving or Apple Picking?

Pumpkin carving is so much fun.
Source: Yahoo Images
I love to decorate pumpkins too.

2. Yankee Candles or Roaring Fireplace?

Both, although neither is good for my COPD.

3. Hot Chocolate or Apple Cider?

Again, both!  Mr D and I will get some hot chocolate and go driving around looking at Christmas lights.  We've done this for some years now, long enough that it has become a tradition for us.
I also love to heat apple cider and add red hot candies and let them melt.  Served hot with a cinnamon stick, oh so good on a cold winter's day.

4. Pumpkin Pie or Apple Pie?

Depends on the season.  Fall just calls for pumpkin pie, but I can eat apple pie for any season,  especially with a big dollop of vanilla ice cream on top.

I'm very glad I decided to go to the doctor, I felt a little better this morning and almost decided not to go.  Mr D's persistence is a blessing.  I do have a very bad bladder infection, the doctor said on a scale 1 to 10, I was a 10.  {{sigh}}

He prescribed a strong antibiotic, told me to drink lots of water and cranberry juice, rest and take Tylenol for fever.

So that's what I'm doing.

I sure hope everything is okay in your world.

Time Tells All (Fill In The Blanks)

1. It's 9:00 AM Sunday and I'm usually watching Christian Television.

2. It's 12:00 PM/Noon On Monday and I'm usually doing some house cleaning or laundry.

3. It's 8:00 PM Wednesday and I'm usually setting in front of the TV and playing on my laptop.

4. It's 5:30 PM Friday and I'm usually hoping to go out to eat with my girls and their hubbies.

Looks like we may get hit with another tropical depression/wave by this weekend.  I'm stocking the pantry in case we can't get out or don't want to get out.

From our local NBC Weather....
Latest rainfall estimates from the American model have shown a dramatic increase and put us in the trouble zone this weekend. Still uncertainty on track and intensity.

Ten inches of rain will cause flooding in many areas. 😥

If You Could Only... You Would

1. If you could only choose any place on earth to live.....you would?

I love my hometown, but it would be nice if we had more hills and open land.  30 miles outside of Houston and no open space in between.  With that said, I would still choose right here because this is where I'm happy.

2. If you could only buy anything you ever wanted.....you would?

I would buy tickets!!  And travel the USA from coast to coast....then I would travel the world.

3. If you could only do whatever your heart desires.....you would?

I have all my heart desires, a wonderful family, a loving husband, great friends and the love of God.

4. If you could only write a great novel about (any genre).....you would?

I'm certainly not a writer, but if I could, I would write my own bio.  Probably wouldn't be interesting to anyone but me, but that would be okay.

Thanks Toni!!

Today's Trivia

On this day in 1951, CBS aired the first color program....The Arthur Godfrey show was aired to four cities.

I remember the first time I saw a color television, it was on display in a store window.  It was at night and the color was so pretty, even at my young age I thought it was the most amazing thing I had ever seen.

Long ago and far away.

TV Shows

1. Name a TV show you can, and do, quote from:

There is an episode of The Andy Griffith Show where Barney and Gomer get into a fight over a ticket.  As the show comes to an end they have made up....until....Barney does a 'driving no-no' and Gomer runs after him yelling, "Citizen's arrest, citizen's arrest!"  Mr D and I laugh so hard everytime we see the show and when we're out if we see someone make a "driving no-no" we will both say "citizen's arrest, citizen's arrest!"

2. Name a TV show you like that no one else enjoys:

I watch a lot of true crime shows, Mr D doesn't care for them.

3. Name a TV show which you've been known to sing the theme song:

I always sang along with Archie and Edith...

Boy, the way Glenn Miller played!

Songs that made the Hit Parade.

Guys like us, we had it made.

Those were the days!

4. Name a TV show you would recommend everyone to watch:

I don't have a specific show to recommend, what's good to me might not be what's good to you.  With that said I'll just let you decide what you would like to watch.

My laptop came home from the computer hospital yesterday afternoon.  I have a lot of catching up to do!!!

Today's Questions. . .

Your Very First

1. What was your very first job?

I was a soda-jerk between my sophomore and junior year of high school.

2. What was your very first car?

1960 or 61 Corvair

3. When was your very first ride on an airplane, boat or train?

When we were young teen-agers my cousin and I rode the train from Houston to Dallas.  We were in the same car with a female baseball team!  They certainly kept us entertained.  My first airplane ride was in a small plane, we flew around for a little while then landed, that was 1963.  I believe I was 12-13 when I went on my first boat ride.

4. Who was your very first best friend & do you still talk?

I had several close friends, their Dads worked for the same company as my Dad.  We did a lot of moving back in those days and when I married Mr D I eventually lost contact with all of them.

I've managed to get some early spring cleaning done.  It feels so good to have a clean house, first good cleaning I've done since before Thanksgiving.  How can 2 old  older people collect so much dust and get the floors so dirty?   Mr D has a coffee trail from the kitchen to his chair, when I fuss at him about it he looks at the floor and says, "Did I do that?"  Well, as a matter of fact yes you did!

And Life Goes On !!

A Bird's Nest and Tuesday 4

According to an old German folk legend, bird nest ornaments are symbols of home.
Source: Getty Images
They represent the love, commitment, and effort it takes to build a happy home. Bird nests are also good-luck symbols. Legend has it that prosperity will come to any home that finds a bird's nest nestled among the branches of the family Christmas tree.

Source: CountryLiving.com

I don't believe in good-luck symbols, I believe many people mistake a blessing as good luck!!
Still, a bird nest in a tree just looks natural to me. Afterall, that's where a bird nest belongs.

Christmas Day is just a week away.  It got here so fast, I'm not ready to see it go.

1. Do you drive through your neighborhood to look at other people's holiday decorations?

We sure do, Mr D and I love Christmas lights and love to drive around at night looking at everyone's decorations.

2. Are you counting the days to Christmas with excited anticipation or dread?

Neither really, I do love Christmas but at this point in my life it's not as exciting as it once was.  I enjoy Christmas, I certainly don't dread it,  it's a wonderful time of year.

3. When was the last time you had a photo taken with Santa?

We had a Santa in the bank lobby one year and I had a picture taken with him.  That's been some years ago, I retired in 1996.

4. Do you make a Christmas list for your family or friends?
We don't exchange gifts anymore, so no, I don't make a list.  We do buy gifts for the great grandkids and a list is not needed.

Your Brand is Showing

Tuesday means it's time for
Tuesday 4 Meme

You can find the questions every Monday at Toni's Blog

Your Brand is Showing!

1. Food: ~ Do you buy brand names or go for the cheaper store name brand?

It depends, some of the cheaper brands are very good, others not so much.  I will usually at least try and see if it's good.

2. Clothes: ~ Wear designer jeans/slacks with a brand name or regular department store jeans/slacks?
I do wear Vanderbilt jeans, not because of the brand name but because they fit me the best.

3. Handbags: ~ Buy a designer bag or look for a less expensive copy?
Here I definitely buy the less expensive copy.  I do buy a good handbag but not designer bags.

4. Shoes: ~ You got the drift, designer or a cheaper copy?
Once again, I buy good shoes but not 'designer' brands....I'm not going to pay $100+ for shoes.  For boots maybe a little more.....but not much!
